Oil Dumps 6% as Iran Talks Cap Crude
This morning we saw a de-escalation headline out of Iran, with leadership signaling the go-ahead for continued talks. Normally one side says something and the other walks it back within hours, but today feels different, and crude is pricing it in fast.
Oil has a stack of headwinds here. You have the de-escalation talks easing the supply premium, you have prices high enough to start crushing demand, and there are now alternative supply routes that lean less on the Strait of Hormuz. All of it tilts oil lower.
From a trading standpoint, I wanted to sell up at the 105 handle and didnβt get the fill, so Iβm not chasing this drop. Iβd rather wait for a pullback and then look for a continuation lower, because I think oil stays capped above 105.
And if this headline gets walked back and oil spikes, which has happened plenty lately, Iβll look to fade that.

The Nasdaq Is Testing the One Level Everyone's Watching
The Nasdaq is sitting right on its 200-day moving average this morning, and thatβs the level the whole market is watching. Institutions, hedge funds, and big money all treat the 200-day as the line between a healthy uptrend and something more serious.
The backdrop is getting heavier, with wars, soaring sovereign debt, and trade tensions, and stress showing from Japanese and French bonds to sliding emerging-market currencies. The one trade keeping everyone optimistic was AI, and itβs cracking.
I donβt think you commit to either side yet. If the Nasdaq holds, the Santa rally and the buy-the-dip crowd stay in control. If it flushes below, the next real support is down near 26,000, and at that point weβre under the 200-day in bearish territory. And if AI and tech do unwind, the biggest beneficiary is probably bonds.
The EdgeFinder is neutral, so Iβm in no rush to commit to a direction.

Gold 4 Hour Chart
I'm receptive to a continued bounce in Gold so I could ultimately fade it.
The current macro currently supports another round of rate hikes if needed, a bearish headwind for Gold. EdgeFinder also supports the idea, currently printing a bearish reading of -7
Though, I'm not in any rush to pursue the trade. I'll let you know if/when I execute, along with my trade plan.

Gold sells setting up?
I think we have a bit more room to squeeze higher, following the midterm election bump we're seeing.
However...
EdgeFinder bearish reading is heating up, and technicals are closing in on some major resistance in what is still a higher timeframe downtrend.

Gold Is Ripppping Today, But The Macro Tells Another Story
The spark was the dollar, which sank after the midterms handed Democrats both chambers and the market began pricing a more gridlocked Washington.
What makes me cautious is the backdrop. A move this size wants the macro behind it, and right now it leans the other way. Growth came in hot with GDP at 3.4%, the PMIs are expanding, retail sales and confidence beat, and inflation is sticky with CPI at 3.7% and PPI above 6%.
That is not what lets the Fed ease. The market still prices about an 83% chance of a December hike, and gold positioning is heavily long and crowded, the kind of setup that unwinds fast when data pushes back.
Markets seem to be holding on to the "What If" Washington haults the Iran war, but we've seen nothing tangible yet... Fridayβs jobs number is next in focus. A strong print there and this pop runs straight into a wall.

Oil Daily Chart
Oversold? Probably not.. I still hold my bearish thesis on Oil.
Though the technical criteria has changed a bit. I believe at this point, waiting for a revisit to $105 is a bit of a stretch. At this point I'm waiting for a pullback to key fib levels or a break and retest below the 200 Day SMA. Preferably the pullback.
I'm prioritizing patience because the war is not over yet, and markets are trading on "hopium" right now.
