Forwarded from ESN Program
🎉We are delighted to inform you that more than 5000 Mentees attended Community of Practice sessions conducted by RPMs in various parts of Uzbekistan from October to December 2022.

🖇The content of CoP sessions was developed based on the TESOL International Association 6 Principles for Exemplary Teaching of English Learners and George Mason University Teaching English Through English materials. The sessions also helped teachers to develop their collaboration skills and ability to provide effective peer feedback.

We are extremely proud and grateful to RPMs for their contribution to the ESN program, and for the professional development of the teachers in their own communities. RPM’s diligent work, and unfaltering investment of their time and resources are well-reflected in each Mentee.

We appreciate all the dedication and commitment of our RPMs, CTs and Coaches demonstrated during Cohort I CoP sessions. And we are excited to receive the nominations for Cohort II CoP sessions. If you are an RPM who has not nominated any teachers yet, we kindly remind you to submit the nomination list as soon as possible!

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24 January as the International Day of Education
This year the International Day of Education will be celebrated on 24 January 2023 under the theme “to invest in people, prioritize education.” USAID widely supports educational initiatives across the globe technically and financially, particularly the reforms that the Government of Uzbekistan is currently implementing that are focused on providing children with skills in critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communications. These are core competency areas on which the USAID-funded Uzbekistan Youth Employment Skills (YES) program is working in development of new-generation economics and entrepreneurship teaching and learning materials for grades eight to eleven. Moreover, YES actively encourages Uzbekistan’s private sector to devote their expertise, time, and resources to the program, to positively impact the current and future local labor force, providing youth, girls, and women, as well as people with disabilities with an opportunity to fulfill their potential in Uzbekistan.

UniCEN Partnership: A New Course on Global Water-Related Issues

UniCEN Partners Colorado State University (CSU) and Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) recently successfully launched a joint course. The course was conducted under the framework of a joint UniCEN project between the two universities - “Training a New Genaration of Engineers to Face Global Water Challenges.”

The course received extremely positive feedback from students – many of whom reported learning from one another and significantly expanded perspectives on global water-related issues.

The class was taught virtually through Zoom, and despite significant time differences saw full attendance throughout the semester. Instructors also employed collaborative pedagogical techniques to engage students, including collaborative projects through Google Slides and Jamboard, discussion posts and virtual interaction, and group presentations.
