🎉 Celebrating 30 Years of FLEX! 🎉
On May 25, the FLEX 30th Anniversary Celebration brought together 55 alumni from various generations and regions.
The celebration commenced with a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations from Laura Brown, Counselor for Public Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, and Will O'Roark, American Councils Uzbekistan Country Director.
Six distinguished alumni shared their personal stories, highlighting how the program shaped their careers and lives. A big thank you to Bahodir Ayupov, Bek Abdullaev, Feruza Bobokulova, Oybek Hayitov, Zamira Ataniyazova, Yahyo Ziyaev, and Mushtariy Madrahimova for insights!
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for alumni to reunite, reminisce about shared memories, and create new ones. 🌍✨

Today, May 31, 2024, marks the opening ceremony of the Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP). This program offers a 3-month summer internship experience, complete with professional development sessions, networking opportunities, and mentorship. YPIP is designed to equip Uzbek students with essential skills in business and STEM, providing them with real-world experience to thrive in their future careers.
Remarkably, YPIP extends its opportunities beyond Tashkent, reaching students across various regions of Uzbekistan.
In 2024, out of 1,170 applicants, only 75 outstanding finalists were selected. These individuals are smart, active, and goal-oriented, poised to become the next generation of leaders in their respective fields.

Exciting news! The Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL) has partnered with the University of Kansas School of Law to launch a groundbreaking "3+1" program! 🏛✨
Through this program, TSUL students can now complete their bachelor's degree in 3 years at TSUL and spend the final year earning a master's degree at the University of Kansas. After just 4 years, they'll hold both a bachelor's from TSUL and a master's in law from Kansas! 🎓📚
This amazing initiative began with the efforts of Faculty Enrichment Program alum Sardorbek Yusupov, who was hosted at the University of Kansas in 2021. 🌟

In September 2023, USAID YES Activity launched Business Clubs at Barkamol Avlod Centers in the Fergana region. With 12 trained mentors, 378 students from 18 pilot schools completed the program, receiving certificates on May 25, 2024. Through entrepreneurial and soft skills training, YES empowers youth to become innovative contributors to their communities and the economy. Activities included guest lectures and field visits, enriching students' learning experiences. This initiative fosters employability, innovation, and economic resilience, paving the way for sustainable development and a brighter future. 🌟

Deputy Chief of Mission Paul Poletes from the US Embassy Tashkent and American Councils Country Director William O'Roark delivered opening remarks and warmly welcomed the participants.
This transformative 12-week summer program, funded by the US Embassy Tashkent and implemented by American Councils, is designed to provide Uzbek students with opportunities in professional business and STEM fields. During the upcoming summer period, 75 finalists will gain practical work experience and a greater understanding of international business practices as they prepare to enter the competitive 21st-century workforce. YPIP participants represent and come from various different educational and professional backgrounds including business, STEM, tourism, English language, media, law.
In addition to placing interns at numerous businesses and enterprises across Tashkent, YPIP also provides the interns with dedicated business mentors, ensuring a meaningful and positive internship experience. Through professional development events, interactions with industry leaders, and collaboration within their cohort, our interns will build a robust network of peers and professionals.
The US Embassy and American Councils are incredibly proud of the new cohort of interns and excited to witness their professional journey this summer. Here's to a summer of learning, growth, and professional development! 🌟
