Caricom affirmed this Saturday 18 Nov that its 15 members support Guyana "in the sense that its borders are inviolable and that it should resort to the International Court of Justice (ICJ)" in the face of the Essequibo territorial dispute with Venezuela.
"Guyana's position has been firm, it has been unwavering and it is before the International Court of Justice and we will support it 150 percent," stressed the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley at a press conference in Guyana with her counterpart. of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves.
For his part, Gonsalves affirmed that Guyana and Venezuela "must maintain peace in the region and that force will not be used or threatened, either individually or jointly."
In this sense, he emphasized that Caricom "has always defended the territorial inviolability of Guyana."
Likewise, Gonsalves stressed that Venezuela is also "a friend" and would like "the Caribbean to continue to be a zone of peace."
