🇺🇸 🇺🇦 🇷🇺 "Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration, U.S. officials and people familiar with the matter said.
Both Musk and President Trump have expressed anger at Ukraine for attacking Russian diesel refineries in recent weeks, which the president blames for high energy prices. Last week, Musk capped the speeds at which Ukrainian hardware could stay connected to the satellite-based network, the people said, rendering some offensive drones and interceptor drones virtually useless."
"Some U.S. officials say that Musk acted unilaterally and that Trump didn’t specifically order any retribution against Ukraine. But a person familiar with the situation said Musk talked to multiple senior administration officials, including with Trump, before imposing the new speed cap, which Ukrainian officials said had allowed Russian missiles to evade their defenses."

The Financial Times reports that the Israeli military prepared a strike campaign on Iran for October 10 that would have targeted energy infrastructure, nuclear facilities, and "regime targets", but cancelled it due to Trump's opposition to resuming strikes before the U.S. midterm elections on November 3.
This strike campaign had reportedly been intended to surpass the intensity of the initial joint US-Israeli strikes in February and March. It remains unclear if the U.S. would have taken part in the operation directly.
FT reports that the goal of such an operation would have been to force Iran to agree to American terms surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear programme, in order to fully end the war.
On Monday, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth travelled to Israel to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials. FT reports that Israeli officials presented an "updated target bank" to Hegseth compiled based on new intelligence, including civilian infrastructure targets that had not previously been hit.

As a reminder, the EU has approved a loan of €90 billion for Kyiv for the years 2026-2027. However, during the summit, Vladimir Zelensky requested additional funds of €70 billion.
The publication notes that, given the growing funding deficit for Ukraine and the uncertainty regarding support from the United States, Brussels is increasingly looking to allies outside the political bloc as sources of funding.

An attacker with the private key of any of the compromised intermediate CAs could impersonate any website or service.
This has already been remediated by Mozilla, Microsoft, Apple, and Chrome for their users through their tools for distributing revocation information such as OneCRL, CRLite and CRLSets but many other sites, apps and devices will need to go manually install the patches or risk being hacked or infected with malware. Tech experts say this breach could be bigger than the 2014 Heartbleed security disaster.
The breach wasn't made public until October 19th.
While looking for the source of the breach it was revealed that eMudhra's cryptographic keys were so weak, the hackers didn't make much of an effort to crack them. While a normal cryptographic key can have as many as 120 digits, eMudhra's cryptgraphic keys had somewhere between 1-3 digits.
Anyone with those keys could have forged trusted certificates for virtually any website, potentially fooling your browser if they intercepted your connection and gotten hold of any information stored like passwords, credit card info or location but its unlikely as Google, Mozilla, Microsoft and Apple patched the breach before it was made public.
There have been no verified reports of malicious use forged intermediate CAs linked to this security breach so far.

Government websites in Europe and elsewhere went offline on Wednesday after the disclosure of critical vulnerabilities in a widely used programming language sent website operators scrambling to protect their systems.
Developers of the PHP programming language said Tuesday they had identified two critical vulnerabilities and urged users to update their sites as soon as a fix was released. They said around 1345 GMT on Wednesday that a new version fixing the vulnerabilities was live.
But with reports that hackers were exploiting the flaws to break into websites, government agencies in the Netherlands and Finland were among those that took sites offline ahead of the fix as a precaution.
PHP underpins large parts of the internet, raising concerns that a significant number of websites could be vulnerable to attack.
"PHP is everywhere. It quietly powers WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, and Magento sites, shared hosting platforms, control panels, and an awful lot of software that doesn't even advertise that it runs PHP under the hood," cybersecurity company Huntress said in a blog post.
Dane Knecht, the chief technology officer of Web and cloud security firm Cloudflare said that attacks were emerging and Cloudflare was updating its firewall rules as a stopgap measure.
"We are seeing early attacks emerging and are updating mitigations as new vectors show up. This is a STOPGAP only. Patch as soon as PHP releases the update," he said on X.
Wordfence, a security plugin that protects WordPress websites, said all WordPress sites run on a PHP-installed server. It warned that automatic updates would not apply the fix and advised site owners to find out who is responsible for updating PHP on their sites.
Cybersecurity agencies in Europe, Australia, Japan and Britain have urged PHP users to update immediately or take websites offline until patches can be applied. The Dutch cybersecurity agency itself went offline, saying it had done so as a precaution because of the vulnerabilities.
Officials have said that all PHP versions from PHP 5 onward could be affected, although PHP has not yet disclosed which versions are vulnerable.

Nigeria has confirmed an Ebola case in its capital, Abuja, after a woman who arrived from Uganda tested positive for the virus, the health ministry said.
The woman began showing symptoms on 7 October and was admitted to a hospital in Abuja four days later, where she was later diagnosed with Ebola. It is unclear when she arrived in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country.
The health minister, Muhammad Pate, said authorities had begun tracing 44 people identified as contacts of the patient. “We are doing everything possible to contain this case by tracing all the contacts the individual may have had,” he said.
Uganda’s ministry of health said the patient had only transited through Uganda and that she is a Nigerian woman who had been on a business trip to Congo’s eastern region. The Nigerian authorities have not disclosed her nationality.
“Travel through Uganda does not establish that infection occurred here. The location of exposure remains under investigation,” the ministry said in a statement. The ministry insisted Uganda has “no confirmed active Ebola cases”.
Nigeria is the latest country to report an Ebola case as the outbreak spreads across the region. Kenya confirmed its first case earlier this month and has since recorded nine infections. Uganda had previously reported Ebola cases, but it later declared itself free of the virus.

Despite heavy losses and the decline in Ethiopian support following the resumption of the civil war in that country, the RSF continued its offensive along the border, crossing the Blue Nile in the first week of October, where it captured a series of localities in that direction.
With the arrival of reinforcements, the SAF managed to regain some of the lost ground and contain the rebel advance along the Menze, Jabal Kadam, and Umm Darfa-City 7 axes.
Further south, RSF forces intensified their attacks north of Kurmuk over the past two days, managing to reach the outskirts of Sali, where they were repelled by government forces.

India and Singapore Deny Iran Air Permits for Medicine Transport
Taher Abdolhay, managing director of Iran Air (Homa), announced on Monday, October 19, 2026, that the airline is unable to import medicines into the country due to the refusal of flight permits for Iranian aircraft by India and Singapore.
Speaking at a press conference, Abdolhay stated that Iran Air is prepared to transport essential medical supplies from India and other countries to Iran at minimal cost. However, the airline’s requests to operate flights to Singapore have remained unanswered.
Explaining efforts to import pharmaceuticals from India, he said: “For the Mumbai route, a proposal to transport medicine, even via passenger flights, was submitted, but cargo flight permits were not granted.”
Recall that during the hot phase of the 3rd Gulf War, the U.S. and Israel targeted Iranian pharmaceutical labs and companies including the Louis Pasteur Institute which was responsible for almost all vaccines used in Iran in order to cripple Iran's public health system as Israel's goal always was to turn Iran into a new Syria, Libya, Iraq or Afghanistan.
Target health facilities is considered a war crime under international law.
