Club still have a lot of work to do in the transfer market. Result I donβt care about, itβs whatβs in the result. Clear need for two more quality midfielders, a CB and an attacking LB at minimum.

Outgoings are going to be important this summer. Xabi Alonso isnβt a miracle worker, some of these players are simply not at the level to play for Chelsea football club

Alonso speaks with such authority and conviction. I love his interviews. The impression I get is that he will keep the club on their toes and make sure he gets backing every window. If he is not happy he will express it in no uncertain terms. He is the best hope of building something sustainable. Itβs down to the directors.

If we complete the signing of Pep ChavarrΓa, I don't see how we start ChavarrΓa, James, Palestra, and Rogers in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-3-1 hybrid.
I think Alonso is building a squad that can play both formations (4-2-3-1 and 3-4-2-1).
Rogers doesn't hug the line, so if ChavarrΓa attacks, Palestra will play as RCB or rather be benched for James, as I don't see them together in defence.
A 4-2-3-1 favours Gittens and Hato as underlapping LFB, or Rogers and ChavarrΓa as overlapping LFB. Too many variables, but I would prefer a conventional 3-4-2-1 with ChavarrΓa and Palestra as WBs.
