What changed from the non-indictment of the officer who murdered Michael Brown to the guilty verdict in Derek Chauvin's case?
Only this: that a powerful movement stopped seeking reform through the institutions and took uncompromisingly to the streets.

The Chauvin verdict indicates the strength of the movements against white supremacy and police violence.
But as long as we look to the courts for solutions, police will go on murdering people.
The police and National Guard crowding the streets of Minneapolis today confirm this.

Tw; police murder
Around the same time the Derek Chauvin verdict came through, reports are that a 15 year old girl was killed by police in Columbus. This is why we will never get real justice in this system.

Today just after 7am multiple CPD officers shot at a suspect on the 606 trail. The officers were brought to the location via intel from the “strategic decision support center”, which monitors city surveillance cameras. The officers themselves did not actually witness any of the alleged crimes — they trusted surveillance technology that brought them to the scene and showed up ready to kill. Thankfully nobody was shot.

“Police shoot at man suspected of ‘very violent crime spree’ on The 606 trail
Chicago police shot at a 28-year-old man suspected “in several crimes involving a weapon just prior to his arrest” after officers found him on The 606 Trail Thursday morning, according to Chicago police. No one was injured and the man was taken into custody.
Police were looking for a man suspected in several crimes, and the Grand Central Police District’s strategic decision support center located him on The 606, police said. The support centers monitor city surveillance cameras and shooting-detection devices, along with tracking crime in police districts.
A “confrontation ensued” and shots were fired by police just after 7 a.m. in the 3700 block of Bloomingdale Trail, police said. It’s unclear how many officers fired their weapons.
“We’re sworn to protecting in these circumstances,” said Superintendent David Brown during a news conference at headquarters.
“This was a very violent crime spree where the person pulled guns and shot at several people in a crime spree and our officers were able to pursue this person,” Brown said.
“They captured him after we shot at him. He gave up. He pointed a gun at us, according to some statements, of course, all that’s preliminary.”
Further details about the “confrontation” between the man and the officers and the crimes that the man was suspected of were not immediately available, police said.
Police said a weapon was found and posted a photo of a revolver.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability is investigating the shots fired, police said. The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days.”
