New footage obtained by CBS News shows Iranian missile and drone strikes on Camp Buehring, a major U.S. military base in Kuwait, during the opening days of the Iran war.

Most of the roughly 7,000 troops had been relocated before the war, but more than 100 remained. Following repeated attacks, the remaining soldiers abandoned the base and relocated to remote positions in the Kuwaiti desert.

One soldier described the base as “demolished,” saying, “They hit us bad. It was horrible,” and questioned why reinforcements never arrived.

No U.S. troops were killed by enemy fire at Camp Buehring, but several were injured, including two struck by lightning after relocating to the desert.

The Trump administration pressured several countries to withdraw their sponsorship of a major European disinformation conference in Lithuania.

The EU, Lithuania and Canada subsequently withdrew their official support after U.S. officials objected to a panel examining the U.S. as a potential source of disinformation in Europe.

Their logos were removed from conference materials just days before the event. All three said parts of the program did not reflect their official positions.

The EU continues to fund the conference despite withdrawing its official sponsorship, while France maintained its support.

A renewed offensive could involve massive U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities, potentially triggering Iranian missile retaliation and higher oil prices.

Israeli officials believe strikes are more likely after the midterms, though an earlier attack remains possible.
