IRGC Spokesperson:
From a technical and military standpoint, the United States lacks the capability to initiate another conflict.
However, with elections approaching, it may attempt to manufacture a military success for political purposes.
We are not ignoring any possibilities and remain fully prepared to respond. This time, our response will be far more severe.

French President Emmanuel Macron has begun a three-day Gulf tour to secure extra oil and diesel supplies for France, as the U.S.-Iran war and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz push up fuel prices.
He met Kuwait’s emir on Monday and will continue to the UAE, Bahrain and Qatar, joined by the CEOs of TotalEnergies and Engie.
The Élysée said the goal is “additional volumes and more supplies for the French people,” which it said would indirectly lower prices.
France is also pushing for routes that bypass Hormuz, such as the UAE’s pipeline to Fujairah.
The trip comes after nationwide protests over fuel costs, with diesel in France averaging about €2.36 a liter and Brent crude trading near $108 a barrel.

NEW: Benny Gantz announces he will not run in Israel’s October 27 election, ending his Blue and White party’s bid just eight days before the vote:
“I will not be running in the upcoming elections. I will continue to fight for unity,” the former army chief and defense minister said, calling unity “the only solution that will prevent another disaster.”
Polls had consistently put Blue and White at around 1%, well below the 3.25% threshold needed to enter the Knesset.
Opposition figures, including Gadi Eisenkot, had pressed him to drop out to avoid wasting anti-Netanyahu votes.
The move reverses his pledge on October 10 to stay in the race “to the end,” and he is set to give a fuller statement Monday evening.

Europe’s biggest telecom operators are teaming up to challenge Starlink.
Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefónica and Vodafone are exploring a joint bid for EU satellite spectrum to offer direct-to-smartphone connectivity.
The initiative aims to reduce Europe’s dependence on U.S. satellite providers amid growing transatlantic tensions.
The companies would build ground infrastructure and partner with an existing satellite operator rather than launch their own satellites.
Key challenge: Finding a suitable partner, as U.S. and Chinese companies dominate satellite networks and Europe’s Eutelsat remains far behind Starlink.

Germany has abandoned plans to fast-track the purchase of Boeing’s MQ-28 Ghost Bat combat drones from Australia.
The Bundeswehr had considered purchasing at least 12 drones worth over €800 million, aiming for deployment by 2029.
However, defense officials concluded that no available system fully meets Germany’s operational requirements.
Berlin will instead launch a competitive evaluation in 2027, potentially involving Boeing-Rheinmetall, Airbus-Kratos and German startup Helsing.
The decision could delay deployment until the early 2030s.

Netanyahu says Itamar Ben-Gvir will be a senior minister in his next government, responding to Ben-Gvir’s claims that he is being sidelined ahead of the October 27 election.
“Don’t fall for the spin, he will be a senior minister in our government,” Netanyahu said.
Ben-Gvir had claimed Netanyahu’s office assured EU countries he would be excluded, which Likud denied as “false political spin.”
Netanyahu has already ruled out giving Ben-Gvir the Defense or National Security ministries, saying both will stay with Likud.

NEW: President Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 33% in a new Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll, the lowest in the series and below any point in his first term.
The survey found 66% disapprove, including 52% who strongly disapprove, and only about 28% approve of his handling of the economy amid inflation and higher gas prices linked to the Iran war.
Other recent polls show similar numbers, ranging from 30% in Pew to 36% in Fox News.
The figures come just ahead of the November 3 midterms, with several polls showing Democrats leading the generic congressional ballot.

A hidden video recording device was found in a women’s bathroom on the Australian Navy survey ship HMAS Leeuwin while it was docked in Cairns.
Chief of Navy Vice Admiral Matt Buckley called it “an act of sexual violence” and “the most despicable betrayal of trust,” and ordered an audit of every bathroom across the fleet, which found no other devices.
A Defence Force member has been identified as a person of interest and stood down with pay while military police investigate.
Buckley said there is no evidence so far that any footage was shared, after Senator Jacqui Lambie raised concerns in parliament that recordings may have been uploaded online.

Egypt’s Parliament has postponed a vote on authorizing President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to send military support to defend Saudi Arabia, with lawmakers saying it is now set for October 26.
The House of Representatives held closed emergency sessions on Sunday and Monday, where most members reportedly backed the move but some asked for more details on the army’s role.
Egypt’s constitution requires a two-thirds majority in parliament before forces can be sent on a combat mission abroad.
Sisi has stressed that any deployment would be defensive only and depend on a Saudi request, which Riyadh has not publicly made.

BIG: Uzbekistan and the United States signed 54 agreements worth about $12 billion covering critical minerals, energy, transport, finance and technology.
The deals were signed during Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Samarkand, where he is leading a delegation of more than 200 American business leaders for talks with Central Asian foreign ministers.
Uzbekistan also joined NASA’s Artemis Accords on space exploration, becoming the 77th country to sign.
Washington is expanding its economic presence in resource-rich Central Asia to diversify critical mineral supply chains and compete with Chinese and Russian influence.

The U.S. Army tested Ukrainian Magura naval drones as floating launch platforms for aerial drones during an exercise in Michigan.
The 7th Infantry Division used MV7 boats built by Ukrainian company UFORCE, fitted with launch platforms on their bows, during the Bayonet Quest 26 exercise.
The uncrewed boats operated alongside a crewed Mk VI patrol boat in tests focused on coastal warfare relevant to the Indo-Pacific.
The Magura drones are combat-proven in the Black Sea, where Ukraine has used them against Russian ships.
It is the second known use of the boats by U.S. forces this year.
