There are countries that are not ready to believe Russia is very dangerous for them.

They understand that Russia is dangerous for Ukraine, for Western values and perhaps for the Baltic countries and Poland.

But they are not ready to believe that war can come to their own homes, their families, their countries or their cities — until it actually happens.

Zelensky:

Some countries think they need to keep their interceptors for themselves. They are ready to help Ukraine, but first they need to defend themselves.

But that will not help if Ukraine falls, if Russia breaks our defensive lines.

Nobody can defend themselves alone against a country that is ready to do anything, that is ready to kill ordinary civilians with missiles and drones.

They already have an army of around 2 million. There is no European country with an army that strong. European armies are not ready for such a struggle.

Zelensky:

Some people think that if they speak very peacefully with the Russians, Russia will not attack.

Of course, that's not true.

Russia will attack if they feel they can, if they feel you are weak, if they feel you can lift sanctions, give them money back and unfreeze their frozen assets.

Marco Rubio:

We need a big, strong army for a minimum of 10 years.

Russia produces 140 ballistic missiles every month, and they already have 700 ballistic missiles in storage.

Everybody talks about these missiles, but you can solve this problem.

About 70% of the components in each ballistic missile come from other countries — Asia, the United States and Europe.

You can stop it because these are your companies. Worldwide companies are selling these components to Russia.

Zelensky:

We told our American partners: Switch on Starlink in those parts of Russia where they launch ballistic missiles.

Why must we all be under attack? Why must all of Europe be afraid that Russian ballistic missiles will reach European territory?

Switch on Starlink. We will do it. We will handle it.

Of course, we will do it if Russia doesn't stop this war.

Switch it on. It's not difficult, really.

You can't just impose sanctions and then lift them because winter is difficult.

You sanction oil but not gas, natural gas but not LNG, petrol but not diesel.

Then you sanction diesel and lift the sanctions. You sanction chemicals, then say it's difficult for farmers without fertilizers.

You freeze assets, then lift sanctions on parts of the banking system.

Zelensky:

During this year of war, we have received dozens, perhaps a few hundred, missiles to defend our skies.

Middle Eastern countries used about 2,000 in the first 48 hours of the war.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't support Middle Eastern allies. Of course we should support them, help them and defend them.

But everything has to be competitive.

Zelensky:

Sanctions work, but total sanctions.

If you impose them, please don't lift them.

You speak about frozen assets, but there are other countries where Russia can still use its money.

The United States is rushing to move some diplomats and their families out of several Middle Eastern countries amid fears of a regional escalation.

State Department this week ordered non-emergency staff and all family members to leave Saudi Arabia following increased Houthi attacks on the kingdom, while quietly reducing staff at embassies in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and Lebanon without public announcements.

Many of those leaving had only recently returned after being ordered out at the height of the Iran war, with one diplomat saying “to say it has been chaotic is an understatement” and a source in Amman describing a “very Groundhog Day vibe.”

A U.S. intelligence memo dated October 23 warns that Iran has “substantially increased” efforts to assassinate American diplomats and officials in the Middle East and beyond, with some plots reaching “advanced stages.”

Under Biden, officials sought to block Hezbollah and the Houthis from using Starlink while expanding access in Ukraine and Iran.

Under Trump, officials discussed activating Starlink in Iran following U.S.-Israeli strikes in 2025 and 2026 to support anti-government protesters.

The revelations follow recent restrictions on Ukraine’s Starlink and Starshield services that disrupted military drone operations, raising concerns about U.S. dependence on Musk and SpaceX.
