WATCH: A Hindu festival committee in Delhi burned a 30-foot cockroach effigy alongside Ravana’s during Dussehra celebrations.

The organizers said the cockroach symbolized filth and was meant to promote cleanliness.

The committee is led by BJP lawmaker Ashok Goel Devaraha, who denied any political motive.

Critics linked the effigy to the Cockroach Janta Party, a satirical youth protest movement.

The group was founded after India’s Chief Justice compared some unemployed young people to cockroaches.
