Flames were spotted on the rear fuselage of a Ukrainian Antonov An-124 Ruslan cargo plane during or just after landing at Chubu Centrair International Airport near Nagoya, Japan.
The aircraft, operated by Antonov Airlines, was arriving from Fairbanks, Alaska, at around 19:20 local time when air traffic controllers noticed the fire.
Airport fire crews responded, and the plane briefly stopped on the runway before taxiing to its parking spot under its own power.
The cause is under investigation, with some Japanese reports pointing to a possible problem with the auxiliary power unit, while the extent of any damage and the cargo remain unknown.
Antonov Airlines, which has operated out of Leipzig, Germany, since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, has not yet commented in detail.

NEW: Warhound, a Texas defense-tech startup backed by Anduril founder Palmer Luckey and Colossal Biosciences CEO Ben Lamm, has emerged from stealth with a plan to clone and gene-edit military working dogs.
The company raised a $200 million seed round at a $1.2 billion valuation from investors including Sequoia Capital, ARK Invest and In-Q-Tel, the CIA-backed venture arm.
It aims to reduce U.S. reliance on Europe, which supplies more than 80% of American military working dogs, fewer than half of which complete training due to health and performance problems.
Warhound will clone top-performing Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds and Labradors through Colossal-owned Viagen, and edit out genes linked to career-ending conditions such as hip dysplasia and some cancers, with possible future enhancements like wolf-derived scent genes.
Anduril will supply armor and sensor-equipped vests, with its role described as “on top of the dog, not in the dog.”
Led by former Pentagon chief data officer David Spirk, the company expects its first puppies in early 2027 and aims to have dogs in service by around 2029.

Our job is to be the principal upholder of international law.
When it comes to presidents like Donald Trump or George W. Bush before him, they think that they are international law.
They think that they get to make war. We need to end the era of dumb wars.
I pay my tax dollars so that my kids get good schools rather than dropping bombs on other people or subsidizing tanks for foreign militaries.

I think the era of free trade has sold us short.
We need to be thinking about smart tariff policies, not these ridiculous policies that we've got with the trade war with Canada.
Smart tariff policies that are protecting our jobs, growing more jobs, and then releasing our industrial might on the rest of the world.

As for our heroic "settlers": You are an example to the people of Israel. You are an example to the State of Israel.
We are going to destroy the terrorist infrastructure, and we are going to build the settlement infrastructure.
We are building and regulating over 100 new settlements and farms right here. And not just here, of course.
