“This Is Robbery”: U.S. Demands Control Over Ukraine’s Resources
The U.S. is pushing a sweeping deal that would give Washington veto power and priority profits from Ukraine’s oil, gas, and minerals—with zero security guarantees in return.

What’s in the draft deal?
• U.S. gets majority control over joint fund.
• Royalties paid to U.S. before Ukraine (at a 4% premium).
• Profits routed abroad in foreign currency.
• Ukraine must compensate the U.S. if projects are delayed.
• U.S. gets veto rights over third-party deals.
A senior Ukrainian official told FT: “The new U.S. draft proposal is unfair.”
Another official called it “robbery.”
