U.S. Intelligence Says Iran Still Undecided on Building Nuclear Bomb

U.S. intelligence agencies maintain that Iran has not made a decision to build a nuclear bomb, despite amassing enough enriched uranium to do so. Officials say this assessment remains unchanged since March, even as Israeli strikes have targeted Iranian nuclear sites.

Senior U.S. intelligence officials warned that Iran might move toward weaponization if the U.S. attacked its Fordow enrichment site or if Israel killed Supreme Leader Khamenei. Still, there is no evidence Iran has begun weaponization work.

While some Israeli intelligence estimates suggest Iran could build a bomb in as little as 15 days, U.S. officials remain skeptical, estimating it would take months to a year.

Some officials view Israeli estimates as politically driven, aimed at pressuring the U.S. into supporting military action.
