Rain has launched the Agentic Payments Alliance

Visa, Mastercard, Fiserv, Circle, Solana, Avalanche, Uniswap Labs and 19 others, 26 in total, from card networks to stablecoins to L1s, all sitting at one table. TradFi and crypto rarely agree on anything. They just agreed on how AI agents will pay.

The alliance is a working coalition owned by no single company, set up to write the rules for agent-driven commerce: how an agent proves its identity, gets authorized to spend, and stays protected from fraud. The timing is not random.

McKinsey projects $3 to $5 trillion in agentic commerce by 2030, and everyone wants to own the rails before the agents arrive.
Ethos Launches Foundation as It Moves Into Ethos 1.0

Ethos has announced the launch of its Foundation, marking the next phase of the decentralized reputation platform following the end of Season 2.

The Foundation comes as Ethos transitions to Ethos 1.0, with XP generation ending, delegated XP being returned, and Season 2 NFT holders receiving their transferable Ethos Meow Meow NFTs.

The NFTs were dynamically generated based on what other users said about each holder, designed to serve as personalized PFPs representing alignment with the Ethos ecosystem.

Ethos also recently concluded its Trade Beta competition, distributing XP rewards to top traders based on realized and percentage PNL.

The platform is positioning its next phase around credible human identity, reputation, and exclusive access to onchain products and experiences.

Telegram Applies for .gram Domain Zone to Give Users Personal Web Addresses

Telegram has applied for the .gram top-level domain, potentially giving its 1B+ users personal web addresses such as yourname.gram if approved by ICANN.

Under the proposed system, Telegram users could turn their existing usernames into interactive websites hosted directly by Telegram, with pages potentially generated through a single AI prompt.

The application was submitted during ICANN’s 2026 application round, which closed on August 12 with more than 1,600 primary applications. ICANN is expected to publish the list of cleared domain strings by mid-October, followed by evaluation and potential contention resolution.

If approved, .gram could extend Telegram’s ecosystem beyond messaging and payments into decentralized identity and web publishing, giving users a personal web presence tied to their Telegram username.

A working .gram domain is unlikely before 2027, as ICANN has not yet approved the application.

TikTok Explores New P2P Payment Feature via Direct Messages

TikTok is exploring a feature that would allow users to send money directly through DMs, expanding the platform’s push into financial services.

The in-development feature would use TikTok Pay, which is currently available in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand for TikTok Shop purchases. Code found in TikTok’s US iPhone app suggests recipients could “tap to accept” payments, while senders would receive transaction status updates via push notifications or their inbox.

Users may also be able to attach messages to payments, similar to Venmo.

TikTok said the feature is not currently being tested in any market, meaning it remains in early development and may not ultimately launch.

The move would allow TikTok to keep more transactions within its ecosystem, alongside TikTok Shop purchases and virtual gifts, while potentially capturing additional spending and user engagement.

Meridian Launches Testnet for mPerps on Robinhood Chain

Meridian (formerly Ethereal) has launched its testnet on Robinhood Chain as a day-one launch partner, introducing its upcoming perpetual futures product, mPerps.

Meridian’s mPerps are designed to bring 24/7 trading and capital-efficient perpetuals to traditional assets whose underlying markets may close, using external market prices and a mutualized insurance model to manage risk.

The platform’s first mPerp markets are expected to go live in the coming weeks, with the design using frozen external marks during market closures while internal order books continue trading.

Alongside the upcoming launch, Meridian has opened Meridian Liquidity Provider (MLP) pre-deposits in partnership with Neutral Trade, Accountable, and Kappa Lab.

Depositors providing USDe can earn USDe rewards, 30x ENA rewards, and 20% of Meridian Points distributed to perps users. Deposits are currently capped at $1 million.

Users can also access the Meridian testnet and request test tokens from the available faucets to start trading.

Liquidations in the past 24 hours account for $3.02 billion as BTC hits $69K

In the past 24 hours, 171,626 traders were liquidated. The largest liquidation happened on Hyperliquid - BTC/USDT valued at $48.8M.

Trump: CFTC Is Working to Bring Hyperliquid Onshore

Speaking at a White House event with crypto and tech leaders, President Trump said CFTC Chair Michael Selig is working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States "in a fully compliant fashion." HYPE jumped about 17% in 24 hours on the remarks.

"I understand Mike is also working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a fully compliant fashion," Trump said, naming the perpetuals exchange alongside executives from Coinbase, Ripple, Robinhood, Kraken, Nasdaq and ICE, with SEC Chair Paul Atkins also in the room.

Selig has framed the goal as creating "a path to bring these onchain markets into the United States" under some form of regulation. The comments are not an approval: Trump gave no detail on what an onshore Hyperliquid would look like or which registrations it would need. Traditional venues such as CME and ICE have pushed for platforms like Hyperliquid to register with the CFTC.

For crypto's largest onchain perps venue, a compliant US on-ramp would be a watershed, turning a mostly offshore market into a regulated one, if the CFTC path actually materializes.

Nethermind quits LayerZero's verifier network for Chainlink

Ethereum engineering firm Nethermind has ended its verifier role in LayerZero’s DVN network and moved its cross-chain operations to Chainlink, joining as a node operator and strategic technology provider.

Nethermind said the decision followed an extensive review, but did not publish the findings or the technical factors behind it. It joins a growing group of firms that have shifted cross-chain work from LayerZero to Chainlink since April's Kelp DAO bridge exploit, which drained 116,500 rsETH worth about $292 million from a LayerZero-powered bridge.

For Chainlink, it is another endorsement of its CCIP cross-chain stack. For LayerZero, it is a steady drain of infrastructure partners the network will be keen to stem.

Base App Turns On 50x Perps, Powered by Hyperliquid

Coinbase's Base App has switched on perpetual futures powered by Hyperliquid, opening more than 290 markets across crypto, tokenized stocks and commodities with leverage of up to 50x.

Orders are placed inside Base App's own interface, but Hyperliquid handles matching, execution and settlement on its onchain order book. Perps are roughly 75% of all crypto trading volume, and Coinbase Head of Engineering Chintan Turakhia called them "the single most requested feature from our power users." Coinbase has not disclosed fees, contract specs or the full market list.

The launch is also another step in Base App's pivot away from social features: co-founder Jesse Pollak said the team made "the right bet on builders, but obviously the wrong bet on social." Coinbase has been Hyperliquid's official USDC treasury deployer since May.

Access is closed to users in the US, UK and Canada, where leveraged crypto derivatives are restricted, so the biggest retail market stays out for now.

It lands a day after Trump said CFTC Chair Michael Selig is working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States "in a fully compliant fashion," which would open that door.

Binance Delists ICON, Storj and Secret on September 3rd

Binance is removing ICON (ICX), Secret (SCRT) and Storj (STORJ) from spot trading, with all pairs closing on September 3 at 03:00 UTC and withdrawals open until September 17. The three tokens were hit hard on the news.

Binance says the move follows its periodic review of listed assets, which weighs trading volume and liquidity, the team's commitment and development activity, network stability and security, and how projects respond to due-diligence requests. Assets that no longer clear the bar get cut to protect users.

Spot pairs and trading bots for the three tokens stop at the deadline. Holders should move balances to self-custody or another venue before September 17, after which access to these assets on Binance ends. A Binance delisting usually drains an asset's deepest liquidity, so exits get harder once the pairs close.

For ICX, SCRT and STORJ, losing the largest exchange's order books is a heavy blow to liquidity and visibility, the kind of exit that often marks a long tail for older, low-volume projects.

BitGo Wins Korea's First Foreign VASP License

South Korea's Financial Intelligence Unit accepted BitGo Korea's VASP registration, the first time a foreign crypto firm has earned the status directly through a locally built subsidiary rather than by buying an existing licensed operator.

The registration, accepted on August 18, lets BitGo Korea provide virtual asset transfers, custody and management, with a focus on institutional custody and enterprise services. Since Korea's VASP regime took effect under the Act on Reporting and Using Specified Financial Transaction Information, most foreign players have entered by acquiring a licensed local operator; BitGo instead stood up a new entity and cleared the rules itself.

BitGo, one of the oldest and largest institutional crypto custodians, counts Hana Financial Group and SK Telecom among BitGo Korea's major shareholders, a roughly two-year push that has now cleared the regulator.

The direct route gives BitGo a clean, compliant base in one of Asia's largest crypto markets, and a template other global firms may follow into Korea.

Who Led the Rally: Daily Gainers Among Top 100

Today's rally is as broad as it gets. Out of the entire top 100, only three coins in red: Bitway (-41.5%), JUST (-2.4%), Beldex (-1.1%).

Everything else is green. Hyperliquid leads at +22.8%, with PEPE (+21.7%) and LIT (+20.2%) right behind, and ETH, XRP and a dozen more posting double-digit gains.
Binance Launches Agent OS, Letting AI Agents Trade

Binance, the largest crypto exchange with 300M+ users, launched Agent OS, a platform that lets AI agents analyze markets, execute trades and move funds on a user's behalf through a new MCP server that plugs into Claude Code, ChatGPT and Cursor.

Agents operate inside dedicated sub-accounts: withdrawals are blocked by default, users decide whether an agent needs approval for each order or can trade autonomously, and there is no separate loss cap, so the amount funded into the sub-account is the effective limit.

Binance says it cannot see an agent's reasoning, since that runs in the user's own AI app, leaving it with limited visibility into whether a trade was driven by bad data or a prompt-injection attack. Its existing security, risk-control and AML policies for sub-account APIs apply at launch. Beyond trading, agents can settle payments via x402 and touch on-chain and DeFi through Binance's Agentic Wallet.

It is the biggest exchange yet to open agentic trading, following Kraken's MCP server, Coinbase for Agents and OKX's agent toolkit, a sign that "AI that trades for you" is becoming a new front in exchange competition.

Optimism-Funded Team's Vote Moves $49M Away From Users

A core development team funded by Optimism cast the deciding vote to re-designate 546.9M OP, worth about $49M, from the User Airdrop allocation into a new Foundation-run Strategic Ecosystem Fund.

The team's roughly 8.5M OP proved decisive, tipping the proposal to passage at about 17.97M OP for versus 10.93M against. Because the group is funded by the Optimism Foundation and voted on how Foundation-controlled tokens are spent, the outcome has drawn conflict-of-interest criticism from parts of the community.

The reallocation fits Optimism's wider pivot: airdrops and Retro Funding are paused, and the Collective has trimmed new OP commitments as it shifts toward enterprise adoption, Superchain revenue and institutional deals. The re-designated OP will back grants and partnerships for OP Mainnet and OP Enterprise instead of user rewards.

For a network that built its brand on user airdrops, redirecting the unused allocation to a Foundation-run fund, on a vote swung by a Foundation-funded team, is a governance flashpoint.

20 Stocks in 20 Days: Bitget's TradFi Push

Bitget has quietly become one of the fastest venues bringing the stock market onchain. Over the past few weeks it listed 20 stock perpetuals, from US names like PayPal, Uber and Amgen to the memory-chip complex (CXMT, Hanmi, GlobalFoundries).

The mix says it all: heavy on semiconductors and Asian tech. Crypto exchanges are no longer just listing tokens. They are racing to put equities on 24/7 perp rails, and Bitget is moving faster than most.

The Interfold Launches Network Alpha on Mainnet

The Interfold has launched Network Alpha, bringing its confidential coordination protocol to mainnet.

The Interfold enables independent parties to produce shared, verifiable outcomes from private inputs without exposing sensitive data or relying on trusted hardware.

The network coordinates Encrypted Execution Environments (E3s) through distributed ciphernode committees, which collectively handle key generation and threshold decryption. No single ciphernode holds the full decryption key or can independently control the result.

E3s are private “workspaces” for calculations. Different companies or users can put their sensitive data into the same computation without revealing the actual data to each other. The system then produces a result that everyone can verify.

Ciphernodes act like a group of independent security guards. They jointly create and control the encryption key. No single node has the whole key, so one operator cannot secretly decrypt the data or manipulate the result.

FOLD is now transferable and acts as the bond for future ciphernode operators, with additional utility through governance locking.

Ramp Brings x402 Agent Payments to Solana

Ramp now lets businesses fund AI-agent wallets and make x402 purchases on Solana, wiring autonomous agents into corporate spend with built-in attribution, audit trails and spend controls.

Agents pay from programmable Solana USDC wallets, so an agent can answer an x402 (HTTP 402) payment challenge, settle it and fetch the resource on its own. Solana handles the settlement leg: about 400ms finality and fees near $0.00025 make per-call, machine-to-machine payments viable.

Every transaction carries the controls finance teams expect: programmable spending caps, tracking categories for attribution, and receipts and memos for the audit trail. It is the same governance Ramp applies to card programs, extended to software agents.

The move slots Ramp into the fast-growing agentic-payments race, alongside Coinbase's x402 standard and Binance's new Agent OS, as exchanges and fintechs rush to bank AI agents.
