DATA Network Ditches Its Own Chain for Sui

Sui Foundation is investing $30M in DATA Network, the AI training data protocol formerly known as Story, and becomes its largest institutional holder.

DATA Network will retire its own chain and run natively on Sui, with Walrus as the default storage layer. Running a dedicated chain for one use case meant paying for validators, security and infrastructure, a DATA Foundation spokesperson said. Its Trace registry, launched in June, has logged 250M+ data contributions and handles 3M+ receipts a day.

DATA tokens move to Sui 1:1, with locked and vesting positions carried over unchanged. The current network keeps running until the switch, and a migration timeline comes before the upgrade.

XRP Ledger Patches a Bug That Could Mint Free XRP

XRP Ledger disclosed a critical payment bug that could create spendable XRP from nothing, breaking the 100B supply cap. RippleX found no sign it was exploited.

The flaw sat in the payment engine since 2015. An attacker could open a few hundred accounts, have each offer a token for a huge amount of XRP, then buy them all in one payment. The total overflowed to a tiny number: sellers got paid in full, the buyer paid almost nothing, and the "no new XRP" check missed it.

The attack needed only a few hundred XRP in reserves plus fees. A researcher reported it via the XRPL bug bounty on Sept 22, and the fix shipped in xrpld 3.4.1 on Sept 25.

China Builds Blockchain, Keeps Crypto Banned

Beijing called for a national blockchain network in new guidelines from the Party leadership and State Council. It fits a 13-year pattern: ban the tokens, back the tech.

Banks were barred from Bitcoin in 2013, ICOs and local exchanges were shut in 2017, and all crypto trading and mining were banned in 2021. In between, Xi Jinping named blockchain a core technology in 2019, and the state BSN network and e-CNY pilots launched in 2020. Hong Kong now licenses stablecoin issuers, while the mainland ban still stands.

The market still trades China headlines: CKB gained 32.2% over the past week and CFX 17.2%, though the document names no tokens.

Alameda-Backed Miner Pivots to AI Compute

SWI Group raised €800M ($900M) at a €6.1B valuation to turn Genesis Digital Assets, the bitcoin miner it took over this year, into AI data centers.

Alameda Research put about $1.15B into Genesis in 2021, a bet FTX's estate called one of Bankman-Fried's most reckless. SWI bought into Genesis for $500M in June, now controls it and is renaming it SWI Digital. CEO Max-Hervé George says he has "zero interest" in bitcoin mining.

Sites in Texas, the Carolinas and Sweden will be marketed to hyperscale cloud providers, and the remaining Kazakhstan mining sites are up for sale.

Crypto derivatives and new yield products should follow later in 2026 and into 2027, pending further approval. No launch date yet.

How $93M Left 315 Ledger Wallets in 47 Minutes

Bitquery traced the CryptoBilis drain: $93.2M from 315 wallets on 6 chains in 47 minutes, all via devices from Ledger's reseller in Southeast Asia.

After 41 test runs, the thief took $29M USDT on TRON in 6 seconds on October 9 and emptied 111 Bitcoin wallets in one block. Ledger confirmed "an unauthorized hardware implant" in one victim's device but sees "no indication" its own systems were compromised. Tether froze $10M, while $14.9M was swapped into USDD, which Tether can't freeze.

Ledger's warning covers 90 days of purchases, yet over 80% of victim wallets were first funded from June. Bought from CryptoBilis since then? Move to a new device with a new seed.
Papertrade One-Pager. 1000x Perps on Hyperliquid

Papertrade opened on October 10 with BTC and ETH perps at up to 1000x. Notional volume has passed $770B, but in a day open interest fell from $3.3B to $51M and margin to $6.4M.

Nobody seeded the house pool: it starts at $0 and grows only from trader losses, which also mint PAPER. The pool holds about $5M, and stakers have collected around $25M in USDC.

The weak spot is pricing. The only feed is Hyperliquid's mid, and one wallet netted $1.28M by moving ETH there, so Papertrade tightened its caps. Deposits peaked near $102M and now sit around $59M.
Today’s Treasury Buys: Strategy and BitMine

Strategy bought 250 BTC for $21.5M at about $86,194 each, its smallest buy of 2026. It now holds 848,250 BTC.

Strategy funded the buy with about $21M from common stock sales and also repurchased 1.93M preferred shares for $192.4M. Its whole stack cost $64B, an average of $75,444 per bitcoin.

BitMine added 12,532 ETH (~$32M) and now holds 6,028,946 ETH, roughly 4.9% of supply and about 76,000 ETH short of its 5% goal.

Golf Simulator Maker TruGolf Buys Polymath

Nasdaq-listed TruGolf closed its Polymath acquisition on Oct 8, paying in common and preferred stock priced against a $140M reference value.

Polymath built Polymesh, a layer-1 blockchain for regulated assets, and by the end of 2025 had issued over $132M in tokenized assets for 65+ issuers. Its shareholders got 257,494 Class A shares (19.99% of TruGolf's Class A before closing) plus 136,956 Series C preferred shares. Polymath's interim CEO Natalie Hirsch becomes TruGolf's CFO and COO.

Polymath runs as a subsidiary while TruGolf keeps making golf simulators. Tokenized equipment leasing and fractional franchise ownership are planned for Q1 2027.

Binance is listing RWUSD, its own yield product. RWUSD/USDT spot trading opens Oct 13 at 08:00 UTC with zero maker and taker fees until further notice.

Blur Shuts Down Its NFT Marketplace Frontend

Blur will close its marketplace website on November 12. Only the frontend goes: the marketplace protocol keeps running on-chain, and BLUR still controls its fee switch.

Blend, Blur's NFT lending protocol, stops matching new loans the same day. Borrowers have until then to repay or let their loans default. After the cutoff, Blur says it will release a tool for withdrawing assets from Blend.

Trading had already dried up: monthly volume fell from $1.43B in March 2023 to under $7M in October. BLUR dropped 20%+ on the news to about $0.015 ($44M market cap).

First 100 days since mainnet: which chain traded the most?

Robinhood Chain did $99.7B in spot DEX volume in its first 100 days and crossed $100B on day 101.

The next-best launch ever tracked, Unichain, did $13.0B in the same window. That's 7.7x less. Base did $2.4B, 41x less.

The hype isn't tokenized stocks: they make up under 10% of the chain's DEX volume. The real flow is memecoins. The Pons launchpad and CASHCAT drove it.
South Korea Blocks 27 Offshore Crypto Exchanges

Korea's FIU blocked 27 exchanges operating without registration, including KuCoin, BitMart, MEXC and Phemex. Their sites will be cut off and they must stop serving Korean users.

Only 28 providers are registered with the FIU, and 44 unregistered operators were referred to investigators. In 2025, KuCoin, MEXC and 12 others were already pulled from Google Play and the App Store in Korea. KuCoin says user assets remain safe.

The FIU urged users to check whether their exchange is registered and to withdraw from unregistered ones now, as funds may be hard to recover later.

DRW and Marex Trade First Onchain S&P Index Swap

DRW and Marex executed a swap onchain on Derivnex, the first OTC derivative tied to a fully tokenized index: S&P DJI's iBoxx USD Liquid Investment Grade Index on Canton.

Kaiko tokenized the index with access rules that keep S&P DJI's licensing controls, and supplies the official values used to price the position. Derivnex runs the trade as a Canton smart contract, so both firms share one synced record. The trade size was not disclosed.

Next, Derivnex plans to link swap positions with digital cash and collateral on Canton, so margin and payments run on the same rails.

Trezor Cuts Resellers After Ledger Implant Scandal

Trezor is cutting its reseller network so it can check the sellers it keeps more closely. It calls the move preventive and says there is no evidence its devices were compromised.

The trigger is the Ledger supply-chain attack: wallets sold by reseller CryptoBilis in Southeast Asia carried LTE implants that read seed phrases off the screen. Bitquery puts the losses at about $93M. Trezor had already removed CryptoBilis from its network, saying none of its devices sold there were affected.

Ledger asks anyone who suspects a tampered device to contact its support and file a police report, and points other buyers to its inspection guide.

Ramp Launches Glass to Share AI Workflows at Work

Ramp launched Glass, an AI workspace that saves employees' best prompts and workflows so the whole company can reuse them instead of starting from an empty chat.

Ramp built it after burning $1.5M in AI tokens in one week in May. Inside Ramp, 323 employees have made 6,500+ edits to what Glass knows. One saved prompt lifted feature requests logged from customer calls from about 300 to 20,000 a month. Requests run through Ramp Router, which picks a model per job and cut Ramp's own AI bill by 30%.

Glass plugs into Slack, Notion, Linear, Gong and more, works with open or closed models and shows a cost meter on every project. Ramp is onboarding the first businesses itself.

NFT Market in 2026: Only 21 of 56 Early Marketplaces Still Alive

Blur's website goes offline on November 12, and it is far from alone. Of 56 top NFT marketplaces launched in 2017-2023, only 21 still trade.

The other 35 shut down, sold, pivoted or turned into zombies, lasting 3.9 years on average. Six exchange and retail NFT shops closed, from Coinbase to Binance.

Fees collapsed with volume: OpenSea earned $25.1M in 2025 against $1.55B in 2022, and monthly NFT sales fell 91% from December 2023 to $167.2M in September 2026.
