Payments giant Mastercard has announced a pilot program, planning to use $USDC and other stable coins to enable cardholders to pay merchants using cryptocurrency anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
“Today not all crypto companies have the foundational infrastructure to convert cryptocurrency to traditional fiat currency, and we’re making it easier,” said Raj Dhamodharan, executive vice president of digital asset and blockchain products and partnerships at Mastercard.

Reserve Bank of India’s deputy governor Shri T Rabi Sankar has revealed that India is planning to implement its Digital Rupee in Phases.
The RBI describes CBDC as a digital legal currency issued by a central bank.
“CBDC (central bank digital currency) will be in the arsenal of most if not all central banks in the world. Setting this up will require careful calibration and a nuanced approach in implementation,” Sankar said.
Now, RBI must update laws to accommodate the new digital tender.
