According to Bloomberg, Morgan Stanley is forming a cryptocurrency research team.
The team will be led by the bank's top analyst and will be part of its fintech and payments research division.
"The launch of dedicated crypto research is in recognition of the growing significance of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets in global markets," the bank noted in the report.
The bank was among the first major investment firms to adopt cryptocurrency.

Bhutan's central bank, the Royal Monetary Authority, and Ripple announced today that they will be conducting a CBDC trial.
Per Ripple, Bhutan will be able to improve cross-border digital payments and promote financial inclusion.
“Our collaboration with Ripple is testament to the potential of CBDCs to provide an alternative and sustainable digital payment instrument in Bhutan,” - says RMA Deputy governor Yangchen Tshogyel.
The trial is set to use Ripple’s CBDC Private Ledger.
The move is a part of Bhutan's efforts to increase financial inclusion by 85% by 2023.
Furthermore, the distributed ledger technology will run parallel with Bhutan’s existing payment infrastructure and will improve it's retail and cross-border wholesale remittances.
