Crypto is heading into the weekend looking surprisingly calm — but underneath the surface, this was anything but a quiet week.
Bitcoin started August around $62,900 and is now trading near $64,700, while Ethereum has moved from roughly $1,860 to above $1,900.
The gains are modest, but several major developments could shape what happens next.
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $754 million during the first week of August, while wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC reportedly accumulated more than 20,000 BTC — around $1.2 billion — since July 29.
The Senate will not vote on the crypto market-structure bill before summer recess.
The debate is now expected to resume in September, keeping regulatory uncertainty alive heading into the U.S. midterms.
BlackRock launched tokenized access to money-market funds representing hundreds of billions of dollars in assets.
The tokenized real-world asset sector continues expanding rapidly as traditional finance experiments with blockchain-based infrastructure.
The U.S. unexpectedly lost 23,000 jobs in July.
Treasury yields and the dollar dropped as traders reduced expectations for another Federal Reserve rate hike — potentially supportive for crypto liquidity.
And yet…
Bitcoin barely moved.
The market enters the weekend with stronger institutional demand and improving rate expectations, but also regulatory uncertainty, geopolitical risk and extremely low volatility.
The setup may look boring.
The forces underneath it definitely are not.

⚠️ BITCOIN IS TOO QUIET — AND THAT MAY BE THE REAL SIGNAL
Bitcoin is sitting around the $64,000–$65,000 area, barely reacting to headlines that would normally create significant volatility.
That deserves attention.
U.S. Bitcoin ETFs have already attracted roughly $754 million in August, large holders have accumulated more than $1 billion worth of BTC, and today’s weak U.S. jobs report reduced expectations for another Federal Reserve rate hike.
Yet Bitcoin still refuses to break decisively higher.

At the same time, traders are quietly buying protection.
Put options represented around 54% of BTC options volume over the previous 24 hours, with significant activity concentrated around the $62,000–$63,000 area.
Bitcoin’s 30-day implied volatility has also fallen to roughly 35–36, compared with levels close to 90 earlier this year.
In simple terms:
The market is pricing in almost nothing happening.
And that can become dangerous.
When volatility becomes heavily compressed and traders crowd into the same expectation, even a relatively small catalyst can trigger a much larger move.
🟢 BULL CASE
ETF demand continues, whales keep accumulating, lower rate expectations support liquidity and BTC finally breaks upward from the range.
🔴 BEAR CASE
Bitcoin’s inability to rally despite positive institutional flows could mean sellers are absorbing demand.
A loss of the $62K–$63K area could then accelerate downside pressure.
There is another variable to watch: energy prices and geopolitical tensions.
If inflation pressure returns, expectations around interest rates could change very quickly.
Our read:
Bitcoin does not currently look strongly bullish or strongly bearish.
It looks compressed.
And markets do not stay compressed forever.
The important signal will not be whether BTC moves $500 higher or lower.
It will be which side of this range finally breaks — and whether volume follows.

IMF: Domestic Stablecoins May Boost Dollar Token Demand
IMF Deputy Managing Director Dan Katz suggests domestic stablecoins could increase demand for dollar-backed tokens rather than displace them.
He argues users prefer digital dollars for their superior liquidity, network effects, and cross-border acceptance—advantages local stablecoins struggle to match.
This highlights a key dynamic: as countries explore sovereign digital currencies, the dollar's structural advantages may continue to anchor stablecoin demand around USD-pegged tokens.
