One of the biggest changes happening in crypto right now has almost nothing to do with speculation.

Standard Chartered-backed Anchorpoint Financial has begun rolling out HKD At Par — a regulated Hong Kong dollar stablecoin.

The first phase is aimed at institutional distributors and professional investors.
And the goal is not meme coins.
Not leverage.
Not yield farming.

It is payments and settlement.
Anchorpoint — a joint venture involving Standard Chartered, Animoca Brands and Hong Kong Telecommunications — wants businesses to integrate tokenized HKD directly into commercial and financial applications.

Broader retail access could follow as early as the end of 2026.
This is where the stablecoin story gets much bigger.
For years, stablecoins were primarily the dollars traders used to move between crypto positions.

Now banks and payment companies increasingly see them as financial infrastructure.

Money that can move:
24/7.
Across blockchain rails.

Between financial applications.
Without waiting for traditional settlement windows.
The interesting question is no longer:
“Will banks adopt crypto?”
It may become:
“How much of banking eventually moves onto crypto infrastructure?”

📉 BITCOIN LOST $63K — AND THE GOOD NEWS DIDN’T SAVE IT

Bitcoin is back below $63,000, trading around its lowest level since August 3.

Normally, yesterday’s macro setup should have helped.
U.S. producer inflation came in cooler than expected. Stocks rallied.
Bitcoin didn’t.

At the same time, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have now recorded two consecutive days of outflows, losing roughly $192 million combined.

And there’s another detail worth watching:
Bitcoin futures open interest increased more than 3% while price declined.

That means traders aren’t simply walking away.
More positions are being built while BTC gets weaker.
That creates an uncomfortable setup.

🟢 If ETF demand returns and BTC quickly reclaims the $63K–$64K region, this could become another shakeout.

🔴 If good macro news continues failing to generate demand, the market may be telling us that crypto-specific selling pressure is currently stronger than the outside tailwinds.

TETHER FINALLY GOT THE AUDIT EVERYONE ASKED FOR

After years of questions surrounding its reserves, Tether says it has completed its first full independent financial audit.

And the auditor is KPMG U.S.
According to Tether, KPMG issued an unqualified opinion on its 2025 financial statements.

The company says its reserves exceeded liabilities by approximately $6.8 billion at the end of 2025.

That matters because USDT has become enormous.
Tether now has roughly $183 billion worth of dollar-pegged tokens in circulation, making it one of the most important pieces of infrastructure in the entire crypto economy.

But there is an important caveat:
The complete audit has not been made public.
So this probably won’t end every debate around Tether’s transparency.

Still, moving from quarterly attestations to a full Big Four audit is a significant step.

Crypto spent years asking:
“Is the money really there?”

Tether is clearly trying to make that question much harder to ask.

🇺🇸 CRYPTO CLARITY JUST HIT ANOTHER WALL

Washington was supposed to be moving toward clearer crypto rules.

Instead, crypto just got hit by two delays.

First:
The Senate left Washington for its five-week summer recess without voting on the CLARITY Act.

Now the SEC has abruptly canceled a meeting scheduled to consider new crypto rules.

The agency was expected to vote on proposals that could make it easier for crypto startups to raise capital without going through the full traditional securities-registration process.

The SEC says the meeting was postponed because of an “unforeseen scheduling issue.”
Important:
Neither development means crypto reform has been rejected.

But the timeline has moved again.

That leaves an interesting contradiction.

American regulators are clearly becoming more open to crypto…
…but the actual rulebook is still struggling to arrive.
For markets, regulatory friendliness is good.

Regulatory certainty is better.
