🔰SPAMMING🔰

Spamming is the use of electronic messaging systems like e-mails and other digital delivery systems and broadcast media to send unwanted bulk messages indiscriminately. The term spamming is also applied to other media like in internet forums, instant messaging, and mobile text messaging, social networking spam, junk fax transmissions, television advertising and sharing network spam.

Spamming (especially e-mail spam) is very common because of the economics. Spam advertisers have little to no operating costs and so need only a minute response rate to make a profit. Most spam are commercial advertising, but some contain viruses, adware, or scams.

❤️SplitSpectre – New Spectre-like Vulnerability Ready To Hit CPUs❤️

While the chaotic Spectre vulnerability keeps coming back, another vulnerability has now come up to trouble users. Termed SplitSpectre, the recently discovered vulnerability could allow an attacker for speculative execution attacks.

SplitSpectre – Another Spectre Variant Discovered

After Foreshadow and other Spectre-like flaws, another Spectre variant has come to haunt users. This time, it is the SplitSpectre vulnerability that is even more dangerous.

The vulnerability could allow an attacker to target a victim’s system by exploiting the speculative execution function of microprocessors. The researchers from Northeastern University and IBM Research have published their findings in a detailed research paper.

As stated in their paper, SplitSpectre seems a Spectre v1 variant. The difference, however, lies in the way it executes. It requires a small chunk of vulnerable code on the victim’s machine, without requiring the attacker to have an own malicious code.

🔴Miner Malware and Ransomware🔴

Most of us use e-wallets to have seamless funds transfer. Bitcoins use ‘wallets’ to store their values. Imagine a worst-case scenario where a wallet userloses his authentication PIN and his value store is forever inaccessible. Miner malware and ransomware puts the Bitcoin users in a similar situation and poof! The moneyis gone!

🔴Trojans🔴

Many a time we get fooled by the computer programs disguising as harmless enhancing software but are designed to cause damage to their target systems. These trojans lurk inside the computer and wait to spot a cryptocurrency account number. They get triggered as soon as they spot the account number and replace it with the fraudulent account number.

🔴Quantum Computers🔴

It might sound like Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi movie when I claim that quantum computers can actually hack the elliptic curve cryptography used in Bitcoin, but it can be a true story! Just like quantum physics considers the idea of parallel worlds, quantum computers work by collapsing all possible and probable solutions of a variable into the right answer.

The quantum computer can be used to compute the factors of large numbers and crack the public key encryption using Shor’s algorithm. This publicly available information is all that is required by the quantum computer that can, in turn, get the private key and ‘become’ another user

🔰🔰CAN BITCOIN AND BLOCKCHAIN BE HACKED🔰🔰

🔴Security Features of Bitcoin and Blockchain🔴

Cryptos rely on a pair of public and private keys to ensure secure transactions. Public Keys are visible to all the participants in a network whereas, the Private Key is kept a secret to avoid misuse. Bitcoin uses Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) to generate the public key and its corresponding private key. Later, the public key is hashed to create the public address of that user.

The public key is derived from the private key through elliptic curve multiplication. The address is derived using SHA-256 and RIPEMD-160 hash functions. The errors generated are corrected using a checksum. When users do Bitcoin transactions, their public keys get exposed on the Blockchain.

So yes, it is difficult to hack Bitcoin and Blockchain, but not impossible.

🔰🔰PASSWORD SAFETY STRATEGY🔰🔰

Password security is considered as the most basic protection to be provided to systems. Following are tips from various experts combined with my own experience on how passwords should be maintained:

#1: Use a combination of upper case and lowercase letters.

#2: Keep changing passwords after a certain period (monthly, quarterly).

#3: Never share password with anyone.

#4: ignore spam mails in your mailbox. Shutdown your mail ID in case of too many spam mail.

#5: create password which no one can decipher from you.

🔰🔰How to protect yourself from Evil Twin Attack?🔰🔰

1) Do not connect to public networks, everyone can smell your data while in a public network. The Twin Throw attack will be done as a public network, so restrict as much as possible the connection to all open or public networks mainly if the wifi name is the same as your wifi name

2) When the Internet connection stops working suddenly, it can be under DOS attack using a double evil attack, just restart the router and the attacker must restart the attack and it takes time. Maybe they will leave or continue at another time

3) Run a VPN to ensure that all browsing and data transmission is performed through an encrypted tunnel that can not be easily spied.

4) Do not always trust the name of the network, make sure it is a legitimate and reliable network or not.

🔰CEO FRAUD🔰

Online crimes are on a consequent rise and every sector is vulnerable to it. However, corporate sector is at a high risk as there is a constant threat of data breach.

CEO Fraud is the recent cyber-attack that has taken a toll over business sector. Also known as Business Email Compromise (BEC), it is an attack in which the attacker masquerades his original identity. They often pose themselves as the CEO or any other senior executive of an organization and send emails to the staff members. They generally ask for confidential information or make you do something which should not be done otherwise.

Such attacks are launched after careful planning & research. Cyber-criminals often search the organizations website to gather information such as physical location of the business, employee details, business partners etc. They might also gather employee specific data from sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc
