Pfizergate: Commission broke transparency rules over von der Leyen texts, court rules
The European Commission wrongly dismissed a journalist’s request to access texts between the president and the Pfizer CEO, the court said.
An EU court has ruled that the European Commission violated transparency rules by failing to grant access to text messages between Ursula von der Leyen and the CEO of pharma giant Pfizer.
In a long-awaited judgement in the so-called 'Pfizergate' scandal, the General Court of the EU in Luxembourg decided that the Commission 'has not given a plausible explanation to justify' its dismissal of a journalist's request to access the texts.
The case stems from a 2023 complaint filed by The New York Times after the Commission refused to release text messages exchanged between Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla in 2021, while the Covid-19 pandemic raged across Europe.
The row over the messages – reportedly linked to negotiations over a €35 billion vaccine deal finalised – has prompted accusations of secrecy and institutional opacity at the highest levels of the EU executive.
The ruling, which is likely to attract significant political reaction, reinforces growing concerns around von der Leyen’s highly centralised leadership style.
In a statement, the court said that The New York Times had 'succeeded in rebutting the presumption' that the texts themselves were neither archived nor kept, which the Commission had put forward to partially justify their refusal to hand over the texts.
The EU's regulation on access to documents, at the centre of the legal case, requires the Commission to offer 'credible explanations enabling the public and the Court to understand why those documents cannot be found,' the court continued.
The Commission also failed to plausibly prove that the texts 'did not contain important information' – such as that pertaining to negotiations over lucrative vaccine contracts. If they did contain 'important information', the Commission would be obliged to keep the texts, register them as documents, and then hand them over on request.
The European Commission may appeal to the EU's top court, the Court of Justice.

In this presentation, Dr Lyons-Weiler discussed possible genetic and environmental factors associated with autism. He first argued that autism is not primarily a genetic disease, and finding genetic mutations does not rule out environmental risks. It is important to note that the medical practice of administering acetaminophen to children following the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccination may raise the likelihood of developing autism, as documented by the following study: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/1362361307089518
Dr Lyons-Weiler also elaborated on environmental factors that may contribute to the autism, particularly mercury and aluminum. Mercury in the form of thimerosal serves as a vaccine preservative. , Some vaccines also contain aluminum, which is used as an adjuvant to boost the immune response to the vaccine.
The second half of Dr Lyons-Weiler's presentation focuses on the neurotoxicity of aluminum. He also refuted the misleading claim by the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia that the aluminum intake from our diet is far greater than that from the vaccines. Aluminum in the vaccines that are injected will be 100% absorbed by our body, while the efficiency of aluminum absorption from food is extremely low. Most of the aluminum in our diet will just pass through our body without getting into our circulation system.
Towards the end of his talk, Dr. Lyons-Weiler showed us some results indicating that living in a clean environment free of chemical pollutants will make autistic disorders in kids less severe.

An OB-GYN says the COVID shots “MIRRORED” the effects of chemical ABORTION drugs—and the government knew what it was doing.
Dr. @jathorpmfm pointed to the infamous Shimabukuro study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which claimed the miscarriage rate after vaccination was just 12.6%.
But when you isolate the data for women vaccinated in the first trimester, the real number was 82%, Dr. Thorp says.
“This figure mirrors the effects of chemical abort drugs,” he lamented.
He added, “Recently, animal studies revealed the mRNA COVID vaccine causes the destruction of 60% of the ovarian reserve in rats.”
If that translates to humans, it’s a catastrophic blow to female fertility and the future of entire generations.
Dr. Thorp says pregnant women were DELIBERATELY targeted, and their unborn children paid the price.
