Well, the company R3 Bio has the answer. They are growing bodyoids, headless human bodies genetically engineered to contain full organ systems, but no brain.

R3 Bio’s current focus is on monkey organs, but the company's long-term goal is to create human versions complete with blood vessels that serve as a direct source of tissues and organs for people who need them.

The company uses stem-cell technology combined with gene editing to disable brain development while allowing organized organ growth.

The company was motivated by the unnecessary pain and suffering of the animals during research, the organ shortage, and illegal organ harvesting in Asia and Africa.

More than 100,000 people in the U.S. alone await transplants, with 13 dying daily while waiting.

The decision on
Tina Peters' bid for clemency will be announced this morning at 9am MT by the Colorado Court of Appeals.

Peters served as the Mesa County Clerk from 2019 to 2023. In 2024, she was given a 9-year sentence for charges related to tampering with the 2020 elections.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis suggested last month that Peters should be given the opportunity for clemency. He even extended the deadline for her application.

If granted clemency, Tina Peters could have a significantly reduced sentence or even receive a full pardon.

On the morning of March 15, dozens of activists carried beagles out of Ridglan Farms, a dog breeding facility near Madison, Wisconsin. They rescued the dogs because they were being used for medical research.

Images of the break-in spread fast. But for many, the shock wasn't only about the incident itself.

It was that dogs are being used in medical research at all.

Public Investigator looked into why dogs, and specifically beagles, are still being used and bred for research in Wisconsin and elsewhere.

How many dogs are used in research?
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's most recent report, 42,880 dogs were used in research facilities in 2024.

Of those, the vast majority were used in research that involved no pain or minimized pain. Around 400 were involved in experiments where pain was not minimized.

Dogs make up less than 6% of the animals used in research, according to the USDA. Guinea pigs, primates, rabbits and hamsters are far more common.


The USDA figure doesn't include dogs that were bred for research and are still being housed at breeding facilities.
