Our May Biolab of the Month is focused on Iran, which has several major biotechnology and biological research institutes focused on genetics, vaccines, stem cells, agriculture, and medical biotechnology.

Pasteur Institute of Iran — international collaboration on infectious disease research, vaccine work, and epidemiology. Public health for Iran.

National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (NIGEB) — one of Iran’s leading biotechnology research centers, founded in 1989

Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute — established in 1925, known for vaccines, antivenoms, veterinary drugs

Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics — affiliated with the University of Tehran and focused on cellular and molecular biology

Avicenna Research Institute — works in reproductive biotechnology, monoclonal antibodies, nanobiotechnology, and infertility research.

And there are more.

BTW, Pasteur and Razi are dual use — meaning they can support both civilian/public-health research and military applications.

One tick bite can change your life forever.

Lyme disease, alpha-gal syndrome, chronic fatigue, neurological symptoms, autoimmune dysfunction, and severe allergic reactions are becoming increasingly common as tick populations spread across the country.

And now, new Lyme vaccines are quietly moving back into development while many serious questions still remain unanswered.

People deserve full transparency about the risks, the science, and the long-term questions that still remain unanswered.

Warning: That super bright red “fresh” tuna in stores might be chemically altered — don’t fall for it!
American grocery store tuna often looks vibrant red and picture-perfect, but it’s frequently fake freshness. Grey or aging tuna gets processed in machines that treat it with carbon monoxide gas (or sometimes dyes/chemicals) to lock in that cherry-red color. It can hide spoilage, mask bad smells, and make old fish look premium for days or weeks longer.
This isn’t always illegal, but it tricks you into thinking it’s fresh when it might not be. The color stays unnaturally bright even as the fish degrades inside — raising risks like higher histamine levels (scombroid poisoning).
Skip the bright red supermarket tuna if possible.
• Go for darker, more natural-looking cuts.
• Buy whole fish or from trusted sources/fishmongers who can tell you the story.
• Ask specifically about CO treatment or “tasteless smoke.”
• Frozen wild-caught from reputable places is often safer.
Your health > pretty packaging. Share this so others know — don’t eat disguised old fish!
What do you think — have you noticed this with tuna or other fish?

A couple of things interest me about this picture. First, the obvious. While there are two people in full hazmat suits, most adults only have masks, including a police officer. My favorite is the officer with the hazmat headpiece and nothing else. What is going on here?

And then the not so obvious. The plane landed in Omaha, Nebraska. Recall that people on the hantavirus ship were separated by country. This group are the Americans on that ship. But why Omaha?

Because it has specialized federal quarantine and biocontainment facilities at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and, one of the few in the USdesigned to safely isolate and monitor people exposed to dangerous infectious diseases.

One passenger had already tested positive, and another had symptoms, thus Omaha. The facility has previously handled:

Ebola patients (2014)
Early COVID-19 quarantine cases
Other high-risk infectious diseases

Why are so many people walking away from Christianity?

When we posted the episode from Pedro Garcia on Wednesday, we got this great wisdom from someone in the Telegram chat: "I didn't walk away from Christianity. I walked away from the Catholic church & the way they hid child-molesting clergy. My high school had at least two priests who molested boys & it was covered up for 30 years."

I
can't tell you how many times I've heard this.

You will enjoy this episode with Pedro, who spent years as an atheist before becoming a follower of Jesus. Now he spends his time helping Christians understand one of the fastest-growing spiritual crises in modern culture: the collapse of faith.

Pedro explains why many people who walk away from Christianity are not rejecting Jesus Himself, but instead the pain, hypocrisy, and isolation of a misguided church.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE CONVINCED THAT 15 MINUTE CITIES are an actual thing, keep reading:

“Florida Activists are celebrating a victory for developers after the City Council voted unanimously to eliminate parking requirements along the city’s SunRunner corridor.

Supporters say the change represents an important step away from the “car-centric” mentality.

“This is a huge win for density,” Donna Glitterhoof said. . “For too long, St. Pete has prioritized cars and families. Whether you like it or not, those days are over.”

Under the new ordinance, developers building near SunRunner stations will no longer be required to provide parking for apartments, businesses, restaurants, or mixed-use dog bars.

City leaders say the policy change is a first step toward creating a 15 minute city.

“People hear ‘less parking’ and immediately panic because they’ve been brainwashed into associating parking with quality of life,” Glitterhoof explained.

She said requiring developers to build parking wastes valuable capital that could otherwise be used to build additional condos and increase density.

Some residents expressed concern that eliminating parking requirements could push overflow parking into nearby neighborhoods already struggling with congestion and limited street parking.

However, activists say parked cars along residential streets ultimately help calm traffic while encouraging residents to reconsider their own private vehicle ownership.

“If you live near the SunRunner, it's irresponsible for you to even own a car,” Glitterhoof said.”

“The future of St. Pete is going to look very different, and honestly, people are going to learn to love it.”

It's amazing. God's design is amazing.

Louisiana senator Bill Cassidy lost his bid for reelection. He came in last place behind Trump-backed Julia Letlow who will now be in a runoff with John Fleming. But Cassidy is OUT! He becomes the first senator since 2012 to lose his election after voting to impeach President Trump in 2021 (second impeachment wave.) Louisiana has spoken!

While Cassidy is certainly known for his impeachment vote, he is also known for his arrogant grilling of RFK Jr. in Senate hearings. Cassidy is a medical doctor, but he has a lot to learn about vaccines!

t's no surprise that Senator Bill Cassidy is not happy with the wipe of the old ACIP and the start of the new ACIP. He's so upset, he has called for a delay in the upcoming ACIP meeting.

I along with my colleagues are continuing to call out Senator Cassidy.

I did so in my substack A Vaccine Lesson for Senators: https://drtenpenny.substack.com/p/vaccine-lesson-for-senators

My friend Mary Holland, CEO of Children’s Health Defense, also pushed back on Cassidy. She said:

“Sen. Cassidy is a zealous advocate for Big Pharma‘s vaccines. That he is unhappy with the new ACIP members and its new agenda is unsurprising. Nor is the extraordinary pushback from Big Pharma and its allied professional associations … surprising. Sen. Bill Cassidy says anything that undermines the “vaccines are safe” message is a problem.

While Cassidy is certainly known for his impeachment vote, he is also known for his arrogant grilling of RFK Jr. in Senate hearings. He was not happy that the previous ACIP committee was disbanded—so much so that he used stall tactics to delay upcoming meetings. Make no mistake...Cassidy is a zealous advocate for Big Pharma vaccines.

It'll be interesting to see if Cassidy takes a pharma role: https://drtenpenny.substack.com/p/industry-to-government-to-industry

Cassidy is a medical doctor, but has much to learn about vaccines—SO MUCH so that he inspired my substack A Vaccine Lesson for Senators: https://drtenpenny.substack.com/p/vaccine-lesson-for-senators

Peter Hotez is on the loose again; this time doing his best to stir the pot on Ebola

“I'm worried we're not going to have a vaccine to stabilize things in central Africa. And that's what really concerns me right now," says PeterHotez on the newest Ebola outbreak there, which the WHO now declares a “public health emergency of international concern.”
