It stems from a major EO requiring federal agencies, including the NIH, EPA, and USDA, to establish an updated evaluation and research framework to assess human health impacts from cumulative chemical exposures across chemical classes.
These agencies have been directed to move away from evaluating chemicals on a one-by-one basis and now evaluate exposure across chemical classes to better understand the combined, long-term effects of multiple substances on human health.
Under the EO, the NIH is directed to establish a $100 million grand prize challenge for researchers who can identify creative, innovative solutions for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating the health impacts of cumulative chemical exposures.

A woman pleaded guilty last week to selling nearly 3,000 fraudulent nursing diplomas through schools she owned and operated in South Florida (the Carlene Home Health school).
Carleen Noreus, 52, took a plea deal after a two-week trial, during which prosecutors showed the jury dozens of exhibits, including some of the fake diplomas and transcripts given to people who had not completed the training to become registered nurses.
