The US Constitution was signed on Sept. 17, 1787 by 39 delegates. In 1788, New Hampshire became the 9th of 13 states to ratify it==the threshold required for the Constitution to take effect among the ratifying states. In 1789 it became operational and George Washington was sworn in as the first President under the Constitution.

The country operated under Alexander Hamilton’s American System, an economic vision that sought to transform the young United States into a financially stable, economically independent, and industrially capable nation. As the first Secretary of the Treasury under George Washington, Hamilton outlined his program in major reports to Congress between 1790 and 1791.

Hamilton believed the federal government should actively encourage national economic development.

Hamilton's 1791 Report on Manufactures advocated developing American manufacturing rather than remaining dependent on European imports. He supported measures including protective tariffs, government incentives for selected industries, and improvements in transportation infrastructure. Agriculture, manufacturing, and commerce, he argued, could reinforce one another.

This should sound familiar. Trump is taking us back to the American System.

Are we finally starting to see cracks in the childhood vaccine schedule?

We talked about proposed changes to the childhood vaccine schedule and why I believe parents need to pay very close attention to what happens next. I also answered questions about Tdap before visiting a newborn and Hepatitis B vaccination, including why these decisions should never be separated from individual risk.
