πΉThe name of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).πΉ
In Arabic language, it is known that each name has a meaning, in the dictionary "Lisan Al-'Arab": "Al-Abbas is the lion from which other lions flee, and this is why a man may be called Abbas."
In another dictionary: Al-Abbas and Al-Aboos comes from "frowning" and they are two names of the lion.
And in the dictionary "Muntaha Al-Arb": "Al-Abbas is a characteristic that is said to the brave and very valiant, and it is also a name of the lion. That is why many have described Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) in the battlefields as the angry lion.
It is also said that Al-Abbas means lion, and it is the name of the uncle of the holy Prophet (prayers and Allah's peace be upon him and his holy Household) and the name of the son of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) from his wife Bint Huzam Al-Kilabyah [Um Al-Baneen (peace be upon her)], whom he married after the martyrdom of the Lady Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her). Al-Abbas son of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon both of them) was brave, intrepid and attacked the enemies in wars like an angry lion and this is why he was called "Al-Abbas."
And in the book "Al-Muntakhab of Turayhi": "Al-Abbas son of Ali (peace be upon him) is like the great mountain, whose heart is like a strong towering mountain, as he was a brave knight and heroic lion, known by his strength in the field of war.
In another source: "The commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) gave him the name of "Al-Abbas" as he knew his courage, magnanimity and power, the enemies trembled for fear when Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) was in the battlefield. In wars, he fought the bravest of the enemies and killed them. He always stood up with pride, intrepidity and courage since his childhood until the day of his martyrdom (peace be upon him).
In "Maqatil At-Talibyyin": "Al-Abbas was a handsome man, whenever he rode the most beautiful of the horse, his feet drew a line on the ground.
And in another source: "Those who were killed with Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) were all in the highest degree of courage and the highest ranks of magnanimity, but Al-Abbas son of Ali (peace be upon both of them) had the highest of the highest degrees, and his rank was the most noble as he is one of the lights of the most brave of humans, a branch of the tree that enlightens the whole universe.

πΉFatimah (SA) in the Verse of MubahalaπΉ
Allah, the Exalted said:
βIf anyone disputes in this matter with thee, now after (full) knowledge hath come to thee, say: `Come! Let us gather together; our sons arid your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves. Then let us invoke the curse of God on those who lie!'β (Quran 3: 61)
This event is famous and is known to all Muslims. Islamic scholars are united on the fact that it was revealed in regard to the Christian delegation who came from Najran to dispute the issue of Isa Ibn Maryam (A) with the Prophet (S). In v.6 of Bihar, Imam Ali (A) mentioned the event in the following manner:
A delegation of Najrani Christians led by three prominent men, Al-Aqib, Muhsen, and the Archbishop; these meet along with two prominent jews came to the Prophet (S). They intended to argue with him; the archbishop started:
βAbu Al-Qasim, who was Musaβs father?β
The Prophet answered: βImran.β
The archbishop then said: βWho was Yusufs father?β
The Prophet answered: βYaqoub.β
The archbishop continued: βMay I be your sacrifice; who is your father?β
The Prophet answered: βAbdullah Ibn Abd al-Muttalib.β
Then the archbishop asked: βWho is Isaβs (Jesus) father?β
The Prophet (S) waited a moment while Gabriel revealed the following to him: β(Say) he was the Spirit of Allah and His Word.β
The archbishop then asked: βCan he be a spirit without having a body?β
Again a revelation was sent to the Prophet (S) the revelation is as follows:
βThe similitude of Isa before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: `Be.β And he was.β
When the archbishop heard this, he jumped in objection to the Prophet saying that Isa (A) was created from dust, and said:
βMuhammad, We donβt find this to be in the Torah, the Bible, or in the Zabour. You are the first one to say this.β
This was the moment that the verse of Mubahala was revealed.
After the delegation had heard the verse, they said:
βAssign for us a solemn meeting (in which every side supplicates to Allah to curse the other side if they are followers of falsehood).β
The Prophetβs answer to this was: βTomorrow morning, if Allah wills.β
The next morning, the Prophet finished his morning prayers and ordered Ali to follow him and Fatima, in turn, holding Al-Hassan and Al-Hussain to follow Ali.
The Prophet (S) then told them: βWhen I supplicate you should say: Amen.β
When the delegation saw the holy family and that the Prophet (S) had spread a mat for himself and family, they said to each other:
βBy Allah, he is a true Prophet; and if he curses us, surely Allah will answer his prayer and destroy us. The only thing that can save us, is to ask him to relieve us from this meeting.β
