In order to fully understand the things I teach at Night School, there are some levels of life you must have attained.

The lessons will remain invisible to anyone below that experience level.

In the absence of such experience, you can read the following books to get up to speed:

— The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ Demarco

— As a Man Thinketh by James Allen

— The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason

— Outwitting the devil by Napoleon Hill

Why these books?

They will initiate you into the inner chambers of deep thought, revealing the truth of the way life truly works.

This is the actual kind of truth that sets free, not the watered down baby food the world gives to keep you enslaved.

So when you hear me mention “poor people” a lot, you’d fully understand rather than react the way the world has programmed you to.

And when in your daily life, you encounter certain conundrums, you’d be better educated on how to demystify them and win that game through higher knowledge.

And when you’re presented an opportunity, when you’re thrown a rope in your time if need, you’d be better armed to discern its purpose - a means to salvation or a noose to end you.

Soon, we will start a whole new series on Night School so together, we can excavate the gems in these books.

I recommend you not only join in, but make this a family affair. Every chain is as strong as its weakest link.

For what is life but a game of snakes and ladders?

It remains my hope that you learn to choose the ladders.

Blessings.

So it’s a National Holiday tomorrow (9-9)..

John Obidi’s birthday, duh!

So for Night School - birthday edition, I’ve put together a not-so-concise episode for you.

French Philosopher Baron de Montesquieu wrote, “We receive three educations, one from our parents, one from our school masters, and one from the world. The third contradicts all that the first two teach us.”

Indeed, the world contradicts most of what society and academia teach us… especially on life and your place in it.

But the world teaches not quite like a library or educator would.

It does so like a genie, offering limited answers but only to those travelers who can fathom the right questions.

Therefore most of our successes in life will emanate from our capacity to ask the right questions - of life, of others, of ourSELF.

My capacity to ask better questions of my career life changed in 2013, when I came upon 2 books:

– The Four Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris
– The Suitcase Entrepreneur by Natalie Sisson

Those books showed me that the life of options that I’d envisioned was indeed valid.

And so the years that followed were full of experiments in the art of freedom - time, financial and location freedom.

Some experiments were simply lessons, while others paid off big time… and I’m privileged to say it’s been such a dream.

I’ve compiled some of these lessons for you in this special episode called “Creating a Life of Options”.

You see, too many people decide too late that they’d like to make certain destiny-sensitive decisions - relocation, entrepreneurship, career, etc… but their lives are not set up for it.

Not being able to discern the ever shapeshifting rules of the road, they make not only errors of omission, but errors of imitation as well.

There are some foundational steps that MUST be taken at certain critical milestones in order to brighten your chances at truly creating a life of options.

Deconstructing what that life looks like is a study in itself.

So I will be sharing some of these practical learnings with you, which cost me decades of trial and error, lessons that I lived through so that maybe some may not have to.

Please invite those at the formative stages of their lives as well. They will benefit too.

I'll make this one as family friendly as possible.

Date: Sunday 10th September, 2023

Seneca wrote, "If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable."

Where are you going?

To what port are you sailing?

Where's your map?

What's the weather report?

Do thieving pirates patrol the treacherous waters that you travel?

Do you know what you're really up against, or is this an Insha Allah matter?

You see, almost every Nigerian I've met wants the Nigerian dream - to hammer (or its variations).

Possible? Of course.

Probable? Well, now that's a mathematical question that will depend on how competent we are at assessing all variables concerned.

Tonight, I will share my lessons with you with which I have created a life of options... and with which I provide counsel to thousands.

Join me tonight on "Lessons from a Life of Options".

If you have any adult around you who is contemplating a pivot or just needs life injected into their bones, please invite them.

If you have any kid wey no dey hear word before, invite them.

Who knows? Maybe they will accept it better from this guy with jaga jaga hair and pink lips.

Please send them this registration link: https://hsa.to/birthdayedition

If you haven't registered yourself, the link is for you too.

Timing again is as follows:

Date: TONIGHT Sunday 10th September, 2023
Time: 9pm WAT

There will be no replays.

See you there.

Talk Soon,
John Obidi

‼️Why "School na scam" is partly true!

A tad bit dramatic, but what is life but a Wale Adenuga Production?

So it turns out that I’ve stumbled upon an accidental side hustle.

Discerning parents now set me up with their kids to teach them the way of the world that conventional school does not.

I started it as a personal favour to some of my closest supporters and have been reluctant to scale it further... I just might, but this isn’t an ad for that.

This is about a common denominator in those conversations that may be relevant to you.

“Mr. John, since you always say school is super-important, how can I graduate top of my class?”

Rather than answer a question, I prefer to answer the question that should have been asked.

While I insist that students finish University and graduate top of their class, I must underscore that the ‘school na scam’ aphorism is not without its merits.

Disambiguated: “School na scam” has some truth to it.

What I mean is that conventional schooling was not set up with a focus of creating leaders who can think independently, creatively and critically.

If you think too independently as a student, you might be failed by your teachers.

It was not set up to build people who intend to be rulers, pacesetters and architects of our civilization.

It was set up to create obedient workers who would serve the actual leaders, rulers and captains of industry.

When you understand this, it's not to discard school but for you to approach it in such a way that you extract its best bits and escape the well placed trap doors that intend to enslave you.

Elite parents who want their kids to escape its traps typically homeschool their kids or get some other forms of supplementation by way of mentors and/or extracurricular training.

For example, in school you are punished for cooperating on tests and exams, but in life you are rewarded for it.

School calls it cheating. Life calls it ‘team spirit’.

In school, you are punished for challenging a teacher’s presented ideas, but life rewards you for it.

School calls it insubordination. Life calls you a thinker, outlier or an innovator.

In school, you’re punished for creating novel ways to solve a problem, but in life, you’re rewarded for it.

School wants you to solve the problem according to the pattern laid down by the teacher.

Life calls you a futurist and might place you in one of those spots on Forbes or Time Magazine.

So I say, graduate from the school of the multitude… and then enroll in the school of life.

The school of life will teach you the rules of the road here such as the difference between friends, comrades and associates.

It will teach you the value of persistence, determination and courage.

It will teach you media literacy, critical thinking and geopolitical awareness.

It will teach you why poverty will never be erased and why it is actually sometimes intentionally created and weaponised through media and the power of belief.

The school of life will show you the hidden rules of the road, shortcuts which school denies the existence of, as well as unspoken truths that determine just how high a man can fly.

With this in mind, I have curated a brand new series on Night School called “The School of Life: Life Strategies of the 1%”.

As usual, it comes at no cost to you but your time and attention.

The first episode in the series kicks off tomorrow, Friday 22nd September 2023 by 9pm.

Here’s the link to register and invite someone: https://hsa.to/schooloflife

Bring your kids as well if you'd like to gift them a headstart.

As usual, there will be no replays at any cost.

See you there.

My birthday has passed but if you’ve not sent me a gift, God is watching you.

Do not panic.

Due to the economic uncertainty levels, people will be generally more susceptible to scams in this season.

The underlying reason is understandable.

You hope there’s one opportunity where you’d just invest your money and it works for you on complete autopilot.

Scammers know you desire this.

They know that at this time, you’re more hopeful than ever.

They know what you want to hear and they will create it out of thin air to separate you from your money.

Do not panic.

Breathe.

Gather your thoughts and reassess your options.

Now more than ever, you must lean on your powers of reason.

Do not be spooked into the waiting arms of fraudulent bandits online and offline.

Do not be made to forget that you have the answers inside you if you can only quiet your mind and listen to your inner frequency.

Tonight at Night School, we continue the series “School of Life”.

It holds at 9pm and you can get your invite here: https://hsa.to/schooloflife

See you there.
