The Ingress Community mourns the loss of Marjorie, a.k.a. Agent Tigresse69, who passed away on December 31st after a long fight against her illness.
In her memory, today, Beacons will be lit from 4PM CET (in 30 minutes) for the whole day and a Telegram group was opened to collect screenshots and eulogies.

Niantic released the rules for Phase 1 of the Kureze Effect event which will start on January 23rd!
The event will be divided in 3 phases (phases 2 and 3 will be played in February and March)
Phase 1 - January 23rd
On Sunday, January 23rd several dozen cities will have Rare Battle Beacons deployed on them. The full list will be released a week before the start of the event.
🔸From 1430 to 1730 local time agents will be able to score points based on the score of the Battle.
🔸The sum of each Battle Checkpoint Score will be multiplied by 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 or 8 based on the Battle Category (CAT-I to CAT-VI) and assigned to the relative Faction's Event Score. Score is then multiplied by 10 if the portal is in one of NIA's playzones and deployed by NIA.
🔸Portals where NiaSection14 will deploy a Battle Beacon will present an Ornament.
From Saturday, Jan 22nd @ 1100 UTC to Monday, Jan. 24th @ 1100 UTC, Agents will be able to deploy Battle Beacons on any [ornamented] portal (Ed. not completely clear from the post, we are waiting for clarification), for which the sum of each Battle Checkpoint Score will be multiplied by 1, 2, 3, 6, 7 or 8 based on the Battle Category (CAT-I to CAT-VI) and assigned to the relative Faction's Event Score.
Kureze Effect Medal
To obtain the medal, Agents need to interact with at least ten (10) Battle Beacons scored in any of the three Event Phases (Jan 23rd, Feb 20th, Mar 20th). Medal will be unlocked instantly.
An Agent Profile metric will be added to monitor the progress during the Event.
Scoring Example
If a given Battle Beacon Score is:
Checkpoint 1: ENL 2
Checkpoint 2: RES 3
Checkpoint 3: ENL 4
and Battle CAT-V, then the Enlightened earn 42 points (6*7) and the Resistance earn 21 (3*7).
Score is multiplied by 10 if the portal is in one of NIA's playzones and deployed by NIA.
The final score of Phase 1 will be announced within 24 hours from the end on the Ingress News feed.

The Ingress Drone Mk III Kits are arriving, and due to an printing error, there are Biocards with codes that aren't working. Niantic Supply just sent out an Email in which they advise that they'll sent the correct passcode via Email within 48 hours. In addition, replacement cards with the same passcode will be shipped to agents as soon as possible.

During the European night, Thia announced a new feature which will be coming really soon on the Ingress Scanner!
On Wednesday January 12th, the Settings Screen will be updated to include a Manage Contributions section allowing Agents to individually upload or delete Portal contributions as well as bulk upload them.
So far, the feature only allows to manage Portal Scans.
The Ingress team is targeting the afternoon PST (early Thursday morning UTC) to enable the feature!

Similarly to Ingress' XM Ambassadors, the ideal Wayfarer Ambassadors are people who "believe in the Wayfarer Community’s Mission and Vision by collaborating with the Community Manager and lifting the voice of the community". In being Ambassadors, they embody their being driven by Wayfarer’s Mission, being lead by Example, being respectful towards Community Members, being knowledgeable about Wayfarer and their for Exploration.
Requirements
• Be 18 or older
• Have at least a Wayfarer Rating of Good
• Have strong commitment to Wayfarer, the Wayfarer Community, or the Niantic Mission
• Be fluent in written and spoken English
Wayfarer Ambassadors will be the voice of the Wayfarer community, help by beta testing upcoming Wayfarer features and providing feedback on them, aid in making the community a better place to enjoy and will receive some SWAG incentives for their role.

A new update has been announced for Ingress Prime! Here are the changes for v2.88.1!
- Following the introduction of the Manage Contribution screen, Niantic advises that after all agents have downloaded the new update (which is estimated to take up to a few weeks), the Upload Later function will be enabled for Portal Nominations (adding to it being already active for Portal Scans and Photos).
- A speculative fix for the recharging lag has been implemented, but the team is still investigating the cause of this issue.
- The news feed will now retry to download thumbnails which failed to load.
- The Battle Beacon tutorial will not open anymore after tapping on the Battle Beacon COMM updates.
- The bug which prevented some C.O.R.E. Subscribers from opening the in-app store has been fixed.

- Interact with 10 Battle Beacon across the three phases of the Event (January-March) to obtain the Kureze Effect Medal. A stat in your Agent Profile will update letting you check your progress towards the Medal.
Faction Goals
- The Faction which scores the most across the three phases of the Event (January-March) wins.
- Scoring on a NIA-deployed Battle Beacon is 10x the score on a Agent-deployed Battle Beacon. A new ornament will appear on Portals where NIA will deploy a Beacon starting 24h before the Event starts.
