A new update to Ingress Prime was announced by Niantic!
In update 2.123.1, Portal Scanning was updated to support the latest Niantic Lightship AR version. This version now includes quality checks before you can upload a scan and rejects your scan if it doesn't pass these checks (scanned feet/ground, too dark etc.). In the gif above, you can see how the new scanning process works.
Additional bug fixes include a fix for the non-functional "Choose your faction" screen sometimes suddenly appearing for some Agents as well as fixes to Overclock sound settings.

🤳 Agents, did you know that, during a Portal Scan, the outlines of subjects scanned now have a different colour based on the Faction controlling that specific Portal with the newest update?
This mirrors how the Tesseract appears during an Overclock scan with the color of the cube also depending on the Portal's alignment.

With the newest update however, it seems like Ingress instantly crashes on phones that do not support ARCore. If your phone is not on the list of supported devices below, disable automatic updates on Google Play and do not update until Niantic fixes the problem.

Niantic has released version 2.123.2 for Android, which fixes the issue where the game crashes immediately after launch.
The problem didn't seem to be with ARCore, as we assumed, instead old GPUs in phones seem to have caused problems.
