Niantic shared more info about the upcoming Level 8 Week, the week of August 8th (8/8)!

The event will run from Friday, August 7th @ 1800 UTC to August 17th @ 1800 UTC.

During this event, the following bonuses will be active:

🔸 2x AP for all Actions!
🔸 Apex Boosts will award 3x AP (6x during L8 Week!)
🔸 2x L8 Resonator deployable per Agent!
🔸 4x Portal Mods deployable per Agent
🔸 Drone cooldown time reduced to 8 minutes
🔸 Each successful glyph will award an additional 80 AP
🔸 Experimental weapon tuning

Additionally, three Campaigns will be available for all Agents.

Level 8 Week 2026 - Free
3 Stages, 2 Assignments per stage, 4 bounties per Assignment. Complete 3 to unlock the next assignment. Machina Forever Medal assigned by completing Stage 1.

Cobalt Blue Rising and Viridian Green Rising - 2500 CMU each
1 stage, 2 Assignments, 5 bounties per Assignment. Complete 4 to unlock the next assignment.
Resistance Forever and Enlightened Forever Medals assigned respectively, by completing Stage 1.

Finally, the L8 commemorative medals will be re-released for purchase, at the cost of 2500 CMU each.

🎒Agents, GORUCK Events need you!

As many of you may know, each Anomaly weekend also hosts add-on events organized by GORUCK in collaboration with Ingress.
These events are competitive and feed directly into your faction's Anomaly score, so showing up actually moves the needle for the Resistance or the Enlightened.

Beyond the faction points, though, this is your chance to push past what you thought you could do. A rush of adrenaline that will change the way you see these competitions. Agents who've done it will remember the score, but they'll also remember what they proved to themselves and their fellow teammates.

🥷 GORUCK Stealth Ops - Played the night before the Anomaly. A mental and physical challenge in which Agents get to put their power and wit on the line for their Faction.
🏙 GORUCK Urban Ops - Played on the morning before the Anomaly. More mental than physical, diversity and numbers will give your Faction an advantage!
🌇 Operation Clear Field - A themed scavenger hunt mixed with competitive Ingress exploration, not physically or mentally demanding. (this event awards no Anomaly Points)

🔸🔸 The Enlightened and the Resistance are looking for their champions, especially for the Denver events! It's not necessary to be an athlete, but a bit of physical skill will be required.

Details for the Apollo Global Op have been revealed, featuring a focus on deploying and destroying mods!

The Event will run from 26 August 2026 at 18:00 UTC and concludes 16 September 2026 at 18:00 UTC and feature a Campaign with rewards. As usual, you will work for your faction and yourself to earn as many "Apollo Mod Battle Points" as possible. There are three ways to earn Apollo Mod Battle Points:

Destroying a mod
Each destroyed Portal Mod will award you 1 point. This point can be earned repeatedly on the same Portal.

Deploying a mod
Deploying a mod on a portal will earn you points based on the rarity of the deployed mod:
- Common: 2 Points
- Rare: 4 Points
- Very Rare: 8 Points

These Points can only be earned once per Portal, and only the highest rarity deployed will be counted. As an example, deploying a Common Shield will award you 2 points. A second Common Shield on the same Portal will not award you new points, but deploying a new Rare or Very Rare Shield instead will award you the point difference between the rarities.

Collaboration
When deploying, additional points will be awarded based on the amount of unique Agents that have deployed mods on a Portal. All Agents will be awarded the respective bonus points.

- 2 Distinct Mod Deployers: 6 Points to each participating Agent
- 3 Distinct Mod Deployers: 10 Points to each participating Agent
- 4 Distinct Mod Deployers: 16 Points to each participating Agent

Individual Rewards
The Campaign is divided into multiple Stages within the Dispatch interface. Stage 1 consists of three distinct assignments:
- Assignment 1 (🔸 Bronze Tier) - 50 Points: Bronze Apollo Global Op Medal and 2,500 Apollo Tokens
- Assignment 2 (🔸 Silver Tier) - 500 Points: Silver Apollo Global Op Medal and 2,500 Apollo Tokens
- Assignment 3 (🔸 Gold Tier) - 1000 Points: Gold Apollo Global Op Medal and 5,000 Apollo Tokens

In total, you will be able to gain 10,000 Apollo Tokens. The Campaign can be restarted twice, which will reward extra items but no additional Apollo Tokens.

Faction Score
2,000 Apollo Season Points will be distributed according to the total of Apollo Mod Battle Points accumulated by all members of each respective Faction. All proportional allocations will be rounded to one decimal place. Official results will be publicly announced within one week following the conclusion of the Global Op via a dedicated Season Score update published on ingress.com/news.

The Mid-Autumn Festival Event, Operation Luna, has started and it brought some interesting new sights on the Ingress Scanner!

🍂 Leaves have started falling in the Scanner! Enable Seasonal Effects in the settings to see them!

🎉 10 years of Ingress Updates!

Today, Ingress Updates in English turns 10 years old!

Through a decade from our first post on September 13th 2016, we saw our beloved game and its community change so much. Old faces, new players, new scanners (!), a new faction, a new old Niantic, but always with the same, unchanged and unwavering love for what is more than just a game.

From the staff of Ingress Updates a heartfelt thank you to all of our members, that allowed this channel to continue operating for the past 10 years.

In the coming days, a few longer form posts from members of the staff will be posted, looking back to this decade of IUENG and the story of the channel.

We want to look back together with you as well! Recount your favourite story, post your favourite image or anything else from the last 10 years of Ingress and post it on Bluesky. We will be giving away up to three VR Loadouts to three random Agents that post while containing the hashtag #Ingress and #IUENG!

We have no idea what the future holds for Ingress, but we will be here for it, whatever happens.

Niantic announced the details of the upcoming Series for Q4 2026: the Cygnus Series!

The Cygnus Season Medal will feature 3 Tiers, unlockable with Cygnus Tokens.

Tokens will be obtainable during these events:
🔸 Daily Bounties from October 1st to December 31st: 10 Tokens per Bounty and 10 Tokens per Research Milestone
🔸IFS Events: 2500 Tokens per event attended
🔸Dispatch Operations, 2 this season: 2000 Tokens by completing each.
🔸Cygnus Global Battles: 8000 Tokens upon completion
🔸Cygnus Global Deploy: 8000 Tokens upon completion
🔸Cygnus Shard Storm: 2500 Tokens by hacking a Shard Portal

Season Points, valid to declare the winner of the Cygnus Season, will be obtainable in the following ways:
🔸IFS Events: 0.1 point per participant, up to a cap of 750 points
🔸Cygnus Global Deploy: 2000 Season Points
🔸Cygnus Global Battles: 2000 Season Points
