With Europe sound asleep, Niantic announced all the details regarding a special Toast Day Event!

The event will take place from February 24 @ 1700 UTC to February 28 @ 1700 UTC! During this time, the following will be active:

🔸Moar Toast in Glyph Sequences
🔸2x Glyph bonus AP
🔸2x Glyph hack bonus output
🔸10min Drone cooldown

In addition, the Ingress in-app store will feature:

🔸The new limited-time “Toast Day 2022” Medal (2500 CMU, in the photo) (Hype!)
🔸Fracker 10-pack + 10 free (28,800 CMU)
🔸Toast Beacon 10-pack (3,900 CMU)

For the occasion, Niantic invites Agents to share their favourite Toast Glyph Sequences on the Ingress Community Forum or Twitter with the hashtags #Ingress #IngressToast to try and get a small surprise from the team!

The 10th anniversary of Ingress draws ever closer. To prepare for the 10th birthday of Ingress, we have prepared a competition for you: The IUENG Photo Competition!

Over the last decade, agent have fought over XM, MU, portals, fields and anomalies. During that time, tons and tons of pictures have been taken, of which we want to see the best of! Up until the anniversary, each 4 weeks, there will be a different theme for which we are looking for the absolute best picture of the last 10 years. Each week, the two best entries will be chosen by a panel of judges of both factions. Each winner will receive a passcode.

The first month will be starting today! This months theme is:

🔸Agents and new Contacts (Pictures of agents, including at Anomalies, Operations, Meetups etc.)
August 22nd 2022 - September 18th 2022

Have a great group photo from an Anomaly with a ton of flags or the perfect picture of your team swimming through a lake to link from a secure portal during a fielding operation? Or maybe there is a photo of a bunch of agents during a Xfac meetup with montains of Swag? Make sure to dig through your archives and submit the most amazing picture you can find!

To participate, you need to create a public post on social media, upload one photo and tag it with the Hashtags #Ingress and #ActualGameplayFootage. Once posted, you need to submit the link to the post to the Google Form below.

Exciting news for Ingress Agents!

Kawashima Masashi is being promoted to Product Manager after 10 years in Niantic, having previously worked Ingress as a designer in 2013, focusing on the early story and game design and moving on to be the Asia-Pacific director of a little known game called Pokemon GO, essentially being responsible for it's creation. Together with director Brian Rose and a new team, they're ready to take on new challenges, while aiming at making Ingress a Forever Game.

Kawashima credits the supportive agents and the special allure of Ingress for keeping him passionate about the game.

Judging by this article, it's also likely that one of the former employees who worked on the lore of the game will also re-join the project. This means that new game lore might be on the way!

Mark your calendars for September 16th, as both Brian Rose and Kawashima Masashi will fly in from the US to attend the Ctrl Kobe Anomaly.

The Ingress Forums have been set to read-only mode in preparation for their dismissal.

To help you find your way in the Ingress community, we have collected some of the services which have been highlighted as a possible alternative for the time being. We encourage you to help us expand this list by suggesting any service which could be useful to the community.

🔸Social interactions
Niantic has advised to get involved in the r/Ingress subreddit for SITREPs, stories, event pictures and such.
Many alternative platforms also exist such as Telegram, with many cross-faction (such as ourselves, @IUENG) and faction-oriented channels.
The #ingress hashtag is usable on all social media and is monitored by Niantic.

🔸Bug Reports and Status
The procedure for reporting new bugs to Niantic is now initiated from the Scanner App. Access the help center and start a chat with the support bot to report any problems with the scanner. (Gameplay Help > Report a Bug)
The ingress.plus website has a specific section dedicated to collecting bugs from the community: this list is not monitored or used by Niantic, but gives the community an idea of what bugs are known at the moment.

The main source for all Ingress announcements is the News section on the Ingress website.
Ingress social pages are also available on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Telegram.

Heading to Fantasy Basel someday from May 9th to May 11th? Keep your eye out for an NIA operative in Hall 1.1!

The NIA will conduct field monitoring at Fantasy Basel! An NIA operative will assume the cover of a Niantic staffmember to not stand out in the crowd, should you come across them you can come into contact with them via the following passphrase:

"Agents everywhere, all at once"

Giving this passphrase to the NIA operative will result in them giving you a small support package from the NIA. Keep an eye out!

Niantic has published all details for the "Pursue Human Potential | Evolution Unbound" Global Event!

This event will run from Friday, July 26th @ 1600 UTC to Monday, August 12th @ 1600 UTC.

During this timeframe, the following bonuses will be active for all Agents:
🔸2x AP on all actions
🔸2 L8 Resonators will be deployable on a Portal by each Agent
🔸Drone cooldown reduced to 8 minutes
🔸Weapons will undergo some "experimental tuning"
🔸New Glyph Sequences may be observed during the event

⚠️ During the operation, the regularly scheduled Double AP 2sday bonus hour will not be activated because double AP will be granted throughout the duration of the entire period.

Finally, the three “Level 8” medals (Resistance, Enlightened and Machina) will be made available in the in-app Ingress Store again at the price of 2500 CMU each.

We are particularly eager to observe the "experimental tuning" which will be in effect during the event and the fluctuations that will occur to Glyph Sequences. Report any findings in our discussion group or on social networks with the #ingress hashtag!

Ingress is now on Bluesky!

The Ingress team has finally created an account for the Social Media platform bsky.app and has started posting there. At the time of writing this post the account has already gained over 170 followers without an official announcement by the team.

To help more people get comfortable with Bluesky we have decided to host a giveaway of 6 Rare Loadouts as well as 2 Very Rare Loadouts! To participate and win one of these Loadout passcodes you'll need to do the following:

The team has revealed more information about the Virtual NL New Year Tour 2026!

Starting now you can rally your local community and post a picture of your Agents alongside a recognizable Portal, as well as a direct link to that Portal (for example https://link.ingress.com/portal/e64e4c42a60842b0803d188c8575d2cb.11). You can post these pictures on Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky, or the Ingress subreddit using the hashtags #Ingress and #NL1331. Locations where NL-1331 Portals will appear are chosen by "where the community’s signal is strongest."

Agents who locate and hack an NL-1331 Portal during the event should note that these hacks will NOT increase progress on the NL-1331 Meetups medal. However, a small surprise may be included in the hack output. The team also reminds that the locations where the Portals appear might also host a Shard for the upcoming "Shard Investigation" Event on February 8th.

In addition to these local NL-1331 Portals, there are also globally available bonuses:

🔸2X AP will be awarded for all actions.

🔸Up to 26 Kinetic Capsule Programs may be active simultaneously.

🔸Drone’s-Eye View will be unlocked for all Agents, regardless of C.O.R.E. subscription status.

Niantic acknowledged the server issues that affected the game during the deployment of Battle Beacons at the end of the last septicycle, as a reward for scanning Portals.

From now until the end of the Cygnus Global Battles, a daily free Rare Battle Beacon will be available to all Agents in the in-app store. This means that you will be able to redeem up to 16 free Rare Battle Beacons until the end of the month.
