Ali (as) sold his armor and acquired a modest set of household items for their life. The Prophet (S) likewise prepared a dowry for his daughter. When the Prophet (S) saw all the household items they had, he raised his hands to the heavens and said:

“O God, bless the life of those whose vessels are mostly made of clay.”

Whoever seeks the world to avoid begging from others, to provide for his family, and to show kindness to his neighbor, will meet Allah on the Day of Judgment with a face shining like the full moon.

When I am dead, hard circumstances and distressing events will befall you, many persons in the position of asking questions will remain silent with cast down eye, while those in the position of replying will lose courage. This would be at a time when wars will descend upon you with all hardship and days will be so hard on you that you would feel them prolonged because of hardship till Allah will give victory to those remaining virtuous among you.

وَلَوْ قَدْ فَقَدْتُمُونِي وَنَزَلَتْ كَرَائِهُ الاْمُورِ، وَحَوَازِبُ الْخُطُوبِ، لاَطْرَقَ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ السَّائِلِينَ، وَفَشِلَ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ المَسْؤُولِينَ، وَذلِكَ إِذَا قَلَّصَتْ حَرْبُكُمْ، وَشَمَّرَتْ عَنْ سَاق، وَضَاقَتِ الدُّنْيَا عَلَيْكُمْ ضِيقاً، تَسْتَطِيلُونَ أَيَّامَ الْبَلاَءِ عَلَيْكُمْ، حَتَّى يَفْتَحَ اللهُ لِبَقِيَّةِ الاْبْرَارِ مِنْكُمْ.

How Should We Perform Our Prayers?

Imam al-Rida (as) said:

“If you stand up for prayer, try not to perform it with boredom, drowsiness, lassitude, and laziness. Rather, perform it with peace and poise, and it is upon you to be humble and submissive and be modest toward Allah so that humility and fear are made smooth to you. The time you are standing amid fear and hope and you are constantly calm in tranquility and watchful, stand in the presence of Lord of all created beings just like a run-away and sinful servant stands in the presence of his master. Set your feet next to each other, keep your body upright, and pay no attention to your left and right! Stand as if you see Allah, because although you do not see Him, He sees you.”
