Prophet Muhammad (S) said:
A person once asked the Prophet, “What are the rights of the father upon the son?” The Prophet replied, “He should not call his father by name, he should not walk ahead of him, he should not sit until his father has seated himself, and he should not do such acts which result in people abusing his father.”
سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّه (ص) «مَا حَقُّ الْوَالِدِ عَلَى وَلَدِهِ؟» قَالَ «لَا يُسَمِّيهِ بِاسْمِهِ وَ لَا يَمْشِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَ لَا يَجْلِسُ قَبْلَهُ وَ لَا يَسْتَسِبُّ لَهُ»

Occupation in His worship has made them carefree, and realities of Faith have served as a link between them and His knowledge. Their belief in Him has made them concentrate on Him. They long from Him not from others. They have tasted the sweetness of His knowledge and have drunk from the satiating cup of His love. The roots of His fear have been implanted in the depth of their hearts. Consequently they have bent their straight backs through His worship. The length of the humility and extreme nearness has not removed from them the rope of their fear.

🛏️ Bedding
He was not particular about sleeping on a bed. Sometimes, he would sleep on his black cloak; sometimes on the ground; sometimes on a mat; sometimes on a bed; and sometimes on a leather mat.
His bedding was made of leather and filled with palm fiber.
One night, his bedding was spread out in two layers. When morning came, the Prophet (S) said:
“Last night, this soft bedding kept me from performing the night prayer.”
He then asked for it to be spread out in only one layer on the following nights.
