🤍 Fatimah Bint al-Husayn narrates that Fatimah al-Kubra (‘a) said: “The Prophet of Allah (S) said:

'All the children of Adam affiliate themselves with their ‘asabah, except the children of Fatimah, for Indeed, I am their ‘asabah.’”

Note: ‘Asabah is the plural of ‘asib, just as talabah is the plural of talib, and a person’s ‘asabah are his children and his paternal relatives, because they are the people who surround him.

One day, the Holy Prophet (S) entered the mosque and found two groups there. One group was reciting the Qur'an and supplicating, while the other was learning and teaching.

He said:

"Both groups are engaged in good deeds. These people recite the Qur'an and call upon Allah. If Allah wills, He may grant them their requests or withhold them. The others are learning and teaching. Indeed, I was sent as a teacher."

I ask You by those whom You have singled out,
Your angels and the righteous among Your creatures,
to assign over us a protector
through which You will deliver us from destructions,
turn aside from us blights,
and hide us from the striking of great afflictions,
to send down upon us some of Your tranquility,
to wrap our faces in the lights of love for You,
to give us haven in Your strong pillar,
and to gather us under the wings of Your preservation!
By Your clemency and Your mercy!

أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَهْلِ خَاصَّتِكَ
مِنْ مَلائِكَتِكَ وَٱلصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ بَرِيَّتِكَ

How are people valued in Islam?

God-wariness and piety are the most important criteria for valuing human beings; and the infallible Imams (as) have considered God-wariness as their best excellence.

A man said to Imam al-Rida (as), "There is no one nobler than you in terms of your father on the face of the earth."

Imam al-Rida (as) said, "God-wariness was the best excellence of my forefathers and obedience to Allah was their best enjoyment."

Another person said to the Imam (as), "By Allah, you are the best of the people." The Imam told that man, "Do not swear! Better than me is the one whose God-wariness is more and his obedience to Allah is greater. The Qur'an says, 'and made you nations and tribes that you may identify yourselves with one another. Indeed the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the most God-wary among you.'"
