Risk Stratification in Steatotic Liver Disease
https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2854077

With the rise in steatotic liver disease (SLD) and the limited capacity of hepatology specialists, primary care is under growing pressure to identify high-risk patients and establish clear referral pathways to hepatology. The American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) 2023 national guidelines recommend the Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) Index as the primary noninvasive test (NIT) to screen at-risk adults for advanced fibrosis before confirmatory testing and referral to hepatology. Ongoing advances in SLD-related NITs provide an opportunity for primary care to consider improved screening pathways.
