~ Complete Submission ~
Narrated with a chain of reliable narrators that Abu Abd-Allah Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (عليه السلام) said:
"If a people were to worship Allah alone with no partner, establish the prayer, give zakat, perform the pilgrimage of the House, and fast the month of Ramaḍān — but then regarding something that Allah has done, or that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله) has done, they were to say: 'Why did he not do it differently than the way it was done' or if they were to find this feeling in their hearts — then they would, by that, be polytheists (mushrikin)."
Then the Imam recited this verse:
"But no, by your Lord! They will not truly believe until they make you (O Prophet) judge in all disputes that arise among them, and then find within themselves no resistance to what you decide, and submit with full submission." (4:65)
Then the Imam said: "So necessary upon you is submission (taslim)."

~ The Recognition [Marefat] of Allah ~
Narrated that Abu Abd-Allah Imam Sadiq (عليه السلام) said,
"If people knew what is in the merit of having the recognition [Ma’refat] of Allah (عز وجل), they would not cast their eyes upon what Allah has bestowed upon His enemies from the splendor of this worldly life and its comforts. Their worldly life would be less significant to them than what they stamp upon with their feet.
They would surely be delighted by the recognition [Ma’refat] of Allah (عز وجل), and would take pleasure in it as someone who has always been in the gardens of Paradise with the friends of Allah.
Indeed, the recognition [Ma’refat] of Allah (عز وجل), is a comfort from every loneliness, a companion in every isolation, a light from every darkness, a strength from every weakness, and a cure from every illness."

From Ziyarat al-Jamiyah al-Kabeerah as taught by Imam Ali ibn Muhammad al-Naqi (عليه السلام):
"So may Allah keep me steadfast, for as long as I live, upon Your Mastership (Wilayah), love for you, adherence to your religion.
May Allah grant me success in obeying you, provide me with your intercession, and make me among the best of your followers—those who respond to what you have called towards.
And may Allah make me from those who follow your footsteps, walk upon your path, are guided by your guidance, are gathered in your company, who return back in your return, are granted authority in your state, are honored in your well-being, are empowered in your days, and whose eyes will be delighted tomorrow by seeing you."

"I have become weary [bored/tired] of this world, so I wish for death from Allah."
The Imam said: "Wish instead for life — so that you may obey (Allah), not so that you may disobey. For indeed, that you live and obey (Allah) is better for you than to die and neither disobey nor obey."

The Imam said: "The 'Lord of the earth' means the Imam of the earth."
The narrator asked: "So when the Imam emerges [referring to the rise of Imam Mahdi], what will happen?"
The Imam replied: "Then the people will have no need for the radiance of the sun or the light of the moon, and they will suffice themselves with the light of the Imam."

Narrated that Abu al-Hasan Musa bin Jafar (عليه السلام) said,
"Our Shia will never be without four things:
A mat to pray salat upon,
A ring to wear,
A Miswak (tooth cleaning stick) to clean with,
And a rosary (Tasbeeh) made from the clay of grave of Abu Abd-Allah Imam Husayn (عليه السلام), which has 33 beads. Whenever he turns it while reciting a Zikr of Allah, 40 good deeds are written for him for each bead. And if he turns it being inattentive and absent minded (i.e. without any recitation), then 20 good deeds are written for him."

"And surely none of those 3 had any precedence/preference with the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله) and did not share any hardship with Him in all his battles. Neither did they shoot an arrow, nor stab with a spear, nor struck with a sword due to cowardice, meanness & desire to live."

~ None can be compared to the AhlulBayt (as) ~
Narrated that Imam Ali (عليه السلام) said:
"None in the Islamic Ummah (community) can be compared with Aal-e-Mohammad (عليهم السلام). Nor can anyone who has been under their blessing/bounty ever be equated with them.
They are the foundation of religion and the pillar of certainty.
To them return those who have exceeded and to them meet those who lagging behind.
And to them belong the special attributes of the right of Wilayah (guardianship/authority).
And regarding them is the Wasiyyah (will) and inheritance/succession (of the Prophet)."

When Amirul Mu’mineen Ali ibn Abi Talib (عليه السلام), appointed Muhammad ibn Abu Bakr as the governor of Egypt and its provinces, he wrote him a letter asking him to read it over to the people of Egypt and to act accordingly.
(A selected text from that letter)
"O servants of Allah! If you fear Allah, and safeguard the rights of your Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله) regarding His AhlulBayt (عليهم السلام), then you will have surely worshipped Him in the best way, and you will have remembered Him in the best manner; and you will have thanked Him in the best way. You will have then adopted the best of patience (Sabr) and thanking (Shukr) and the best of endeavour/effort/struggle.
Even if those other than you will be performing longer prayers (Salat) than you, keeping more fasts than you, yet you will be classified as more fearful of Allah (Taqwa), and more loyal/sincere to the people holding (divine) authority (Ulil Amr)."

Narrated rom Abu Jafar Imam al-Baqir (عليه السلام) regarding the verse:
"Is it not that whenever there came to you a messenger with what your souls did not desire, you act arrogantly, so some you denied and some you kill" (2:87)
The Imam said:
"That was the example of Moses and the messengers after him, and Jesus (as) - set forth as an example for the nation of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله).
Thus, Allah said to them - "So if Muhammad comes to you with what your souls do not desire, you act arrogantly—[referring to] Mastership of Ali (as) - so a group - from the family of Muhammad (as) - you denied, and a group you kill.'
So that is its batin interpretation."
