According to a NY Times article, Israel spent YEARS secretly grooming Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to lead Iran after regime change.
Iran's former president, who has called for Israel's destruction and denied the Holocaust.
Mossad chief David Barnea personally traveled to Budapest to meet him, Israel paid for his housing and travel, and Israeli operatives met him multiple times under the guise of university climate conferences.
On the first day of the war, an Israeli airstrike hit his compound to free him from IRGC surveillance, a black Peugeot driven by Mossad operatives picked him up and drove to a secret safe house inside Iran.
Ahmadinejad was apparently not thrilled about being rescued this way, became disillusioned with the plan, slipped away from the safe house under unclear circumstances, and vanished entirely.
He reappeared last week at Ayatollah Khamenei's funeral wearing a surgical mask, flanked by what appeared to be security guards, saying nothing.
He is now said to be under IRGC house arrest.
Israel's most audacious intel op of the war was built around one of its most hated enemies, and didn't exactly go according to plan.
It sounds like an episode from Homeland!

I feel we are standing at a crossroads, and 2026 is the year it becomes impossible to ignoreโฆ
Technology is no longer evolving quietly in the background, it is stepping into the foreground of our lives, reshaping systems, structures, and ultimately the human experience itself.
AI is no longer a tool we occasionally use, it is being embedded into everything: healthcare systems, financial infrastructure, transport, education, energy grids, logistics, governance, even our biological understanding of the human body.
We are entering a world where:
โ machines can reason, plan and act autonomously
โ transport systems are approaching speeds that once belonged only to science fiction
โ medicine is no longer just about treating illness, but about reversing degeneration itself
โ robots are moving out of factories and into homes, hospitals and daily life
And the truth, whether we like it or not, is that it cannot be stopped.
Technology has always moved forward, regardless of fear, resistance or moral debate. The only question has never been whether it advances, but who steers it and for what purpose.
This is where the dilemma lies for people like me. I have spent years warning about how these same technologies could be used to surveil, control, manipulate and ultimately dehumanise us. A technocratic dystopia is not a fantasy, it is a very real trajectory if power remains concentrated in the wrong hands. At the end of the day, technology is a tool, and like every powerful tool, it is a double edged sword.
In the hands of those who see humanity as a problem to be managed, reduced or engineered, it becomes a weapon. In the hands of those who see humanity as sacred, it becomes a liberator.
Historically, the people sitting at the top of these systems have not inspired trust. Their obsession with control, efficiency, data and dominance has always aroused concern and rejection from those of us that have been paying attention. After all, we have witnessed how scarcity was engineered, how fear was cultivated and how dependency was rewarded, whilst freedom was consistently eroded.
But somehow, despite all of this, I feel something has shifted. Not because I suddenly trust the personalities in big tech, quite the opposite, but because it feels as though humanity itself is reaching the end of an old, dark cycle.
There is a strange sense that something larger than these individuals is now in motion. A correction, a rebalancing, a different system, a new beginning that cannot be stopped.
Perhaps this technology, which was meant to enslave, is being repurposed. Perhaps systems built for control are being forced into transparency. Perhaps abundance is finally replacing manufactured scarcity. Maybe this is the birth of a system rooted not in domination, or fear, or scarcity, but in truth, cooperation and abundance.
History moves in cycles, and it feels like the old one is collapsing under its own weight.
I donโt know this with certainty, of course. This isnโt analysis, itโs my gut, my instinct, and yes, my hope, that it will be so.
I feel 2026 will be remembered as the year humanity had to choose what kind of future it wanted to live in. Remember, the future is shaped long before it manifests; it is shaped in the mind, in expectation, in emotion, and in where we place our attention. If we live in constant fear of dystopia, we may be feeding the very outcome we hope to avoid.
If we want a different outcome, we have to envision it. We have to consciously choose, both mentally and emotionally, the future we wish to inhabit. One rooted in dignity, sovereignty, compassion, truth and abundance.
Perhaps this is also part of the test of this moment in history.
Not just what systems we build, but what reality we collectively give energy to.
The technology is here, the crossroads is real.
What happens next will depend less on machines, and more on what we collectively choose to create in our minds and ultimately manifest.

Transport | The Speed Threshold Has Been Crossed
One of the technological breakthroughs that truly stopped me in my tracks recently had to do with transport.
Chinese researchers have successfully tested a next-generation maglev system capable of accelerating from 0 to 700 km per hour in under two seconds. ๐ฑ
This is not science fiction, itโs a magnetic levitation platform operating in near-vacuum conditions, where friction is almost entirely eliminated. What this demonstrates is not just speed, but control at extreme velocity.
To put this into perspective, commercial aircraft reach takeoff speed far more slowly, and conventional high-speed rail operates at less than half this velocity.
This kind of technology has the potential to collapse distance entirely. Journeys between cities that once took hours could take minutes.
Entire concepts of commuting, logistics, trade and geography begin to change once this threshold is crossed.

Health | Aging Is No Longer Considered Irreversible
Another development that deserves attention is coming out of biomedical research.
Scientists at Harvard have demonstrated that aging, at a cellular level, is not a one-way process. By reprogramming epigenetic markers, researchers were able to restore cells to a younger state without changing their identity.
In animal studies, this has already shown dramatic effects, including the restoration of vision in aged mice.
The implication here is profound. If aging is driven by information loss rather than inevitable decay, then in theory it can be slowed, halted, or partially reversed.
This moves medicine away from simply managing decline and toward maintaining function and vitality for far longer than previously believed possible.

Energy | Fusion Is Quietly Moving Out of Theory
Energy sits beneath everything. Civilisations rise and fall based on who controls it.
Quietly, without much public attention, fusion energy has crossed several critical milestones in the last two years.
Multiple laboratories have now achieved net energy gain, meaning more energy is produced than consumed during the fusion reaction. This was long considered the holy grail of clean energy.
Fusion does not rely on fossil fuels, produces no long-lived radioactive waste, and cannot melt down like conventional nuclear reactors.
Some newer approaches, including aneutronic fusion, aim to produce energy without high neutron radiation at all, potentially allowing much smaller, decentralised reactors.
If scaled successfully, this could mean abundant, clean energy at a fraction of todayโs cost, fundamentally reshaping economics, geopolitics and independence.
