Do you remember allocating and saving some amount every month to achieve a long-term goal?

It can be buying a house, a car or anything. Companies operate similarly. The capital reserve is meant for long-term expansion projects or more, whereas revenue reserves are made for general, regular purposes.

What does change in polarity mean? | Learn Technical Analysis

One of the most significant features of support and resistance is the change in their polarity or fundamental nature. The change in polarity principle means that once breached, a support level becomes a resistance level and vice versa. For instance, assume that the price of security A never rises beyond Rs 100 over a long period of time and starts declining as soon as it reaches this level. Now, if the security finally breaks this cap of Rs 100 by a significant amount, the new price to which it will rise will essentially become a support level.

What approach do you opt for while making an investment decision in a particular company? A Top-Down approach means you start with analyzing the company and then get insights about the sector at large. But a Bottom-Up approach would mean that you start with analyzing the sector and then narrow down the company you want to invest in.

While it is easy to skip over the cash flow statement while reading an annual report, it's important that you don't do so. You should read the annual report of the company because it tells us about the liquidity situation of a company. You can also gauge what the company is doing with the help of a cash flow statement.

Sharpe and Information ratios are essential to understand how well a fund is performing. While Sharpe ratio tells us about the excess returns that the fund is generating over and above its risk free rate of returns, the information ratio tells you how much more your fund is generating over the benchmark returns.

Have you calculated the Sharpe and Information ratios for your mutual fund investments?

Why should you check rolling returns while assessing the performance of your mutual funds?

Rolling returns are useful for comparing how the fund has performed over the last year, on an average. When you calculate rolling returns, you get a comprehensive picture of the fund's annual performance, rather than just looking at its quarterly returns. One goal of rolling returns is to also judge which time periods were good or bad from the company's perspective.
