Dashen Breweries has just named Matyas Getachew as its new CEO, effective 27th April 2026, marking a big moment for the industry.
After a global search, the board went with a homegrown leader, making him the first Ethiopian to head a major beer company in a space that’s long been dominated by expatriates.
Matyas isn’t new to the company either; he joined as CFO in 2020 and has been serving as Acting CEO since late 2025, where he already proved himself by keeping the business steady and pushing performance even during tough economic times.
