The #Girnar mountain ranges are considered to be sacred. It is an important pilgrimage site for both #Jains and #Hindus, who gather here during the #Girnar_Parikrama festival.

#Girnar is one of the five major 'tirthas' attributed to the 'panchkalyanakas' of various 'Jain tirthankaras'
.
.
HISTORY
The mountain Girnar is older than the #Himalayas and the #Jain #temples upon it are amongst the most ancient in the country; it is the #Nirvan_bhumi of 22nd #Tirthankara #Neminath.

It is 3666 feet high, and is one of the most remarkable mountains in #India. From the city of #Junagarh, which is at an altitude of barely 351 feet only the top of #Mount_Girnar can be seen, as it has in front of it lower hills, of which #Jogniya, or #Laso_Pawadi, 2527 feet; #Lakhshman_Tekri, Bensla, 2290 feet high; and #Datar, 2779 feet high, are the principals.

Panchvaktra Temple, Mandi

Himachal Pradesh

Situated at the confluence of the Rivers Suketi and Beas. Panchvaktra temple is a supreme shrine dedicated to Lord Shiv. The temple is built in the typical Shikhara architecture style which looks astounding. Temple got its name from the five faced statue image of Lord Shiva, out of which only three can be seen when viewed from the front.

It is one of the protected monuments which comes under the Archaeological Survey of India and has been declared a national site. Inside the Panchvaktra temple, there is a huge statue of Lord Shiv. The statue has five faces which depict about the different character of Lord Shiv- Aghora, Ishana, Tat Purusha, Vaamdeva and Rudra. Angora is the destructive nature, Ishana is omnipresent and omnipotent, Tat Purusha is his ego, Vaamdeva is the female facet and Rudra is his creative and destructive aspect. Panchvaktra is defined as the union of all these.

Katas Raj Temples

The Shri Katas Raj Temples is a complex of several Hindu temples connected to one another by walkways. The temple complex surrounds a pond named Katas which is regarded as sacred by Hindus. The complex is located in the Potohar Plateau region of Pakistan's Punjab province.

The temple's pond is said in the Puranas to have been created from the teardrops of Shiva, after he wandered the Earth inconsolable after the death of his wife Sati. The pond occupies the area of two kanals with a depth of 20 feet.

The temples play a role in the Hindu epic, the Mahabharata, where the temples are believed to have been the site where the Pandava brothers spent a significant portion of their exile. It is also believed by Hindus to be the site where the brothers engaged in a riddle contest with the Yakshas, as described in the Yaksha Prashna. Another tradition states that the Hindu deity Krishna laid the foundation of the temple, and established a hand-made Shivling in it.
