Tapkeshwar Temple, Dehradun
#Tapkeshwar_Mahadev_Temple, is one of the most famous temples dedicated to #Shiva. Situated by the forest side, the main
#shivalinga at the temple is inside a natural cave.
Water drops from the ceiling of the cave trickle down over the shivalinga in a continuous downpour, making for an interesting spectacle.
It is also believed that this was used as a residence by "Guru #Dronacharya", the esteemed teacher of the #Pandavas and #Kauravas of the @Hindu epic #Mahabharata written by #Ved_Vyas. The cave is thus named #Drona_Cave after his name.

#Lenyadri sometimes called #Ganesa Lena, Ganesh Pahar Caves represents a series of about 30 rock-cut #Buddhist caves, located about 4.8 kilometres (3.0 mi) north of #Junnar in #Pune district in the #Indian state of #Maharashtra. Other caves surrounding the city of Junnar are: #Manmodi Caves, #Shivneri Caves and #Tulja Caves.
#Cave 7, originally a Buddhist vihara, has been adapted as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Ganesha. It is one of the #Ashtavinayak shrines, a set of the eight prominent Ganesha shrines in Western Maharashtra. Twenty-six of the caves are individually numbered.
The caves face to the south and are numbered serially from east to west. Caves 6 and 14 are chaitya-grihas (chapels), while the rest are #viharas (dwellings for #monks). The latter are in the form of dwellings and cells. There are also several rock-cut water cisterns; two of them have inscriptions. The layout of the caves, in general, are similar in pattern and shape.

The #Maha_Meru Sri Yantra #Temple is encircled by forest on two sides, the ancient and sacred Batte #Krishna_Kund, a pond on its western side, and a water reservoir to its north. The temple is constructed in the middle of the #Maikal, #Satpuda and #Vindhyachal range of mountains, 3500 ft. above sea level in #Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh.
The entrance to the sprawling temple precincts is through an impressive, sculpturally rich towering gate, the four sides of which are crowned with the faces of goddesses #Saraswati, #Kali, #Bhuvaneshwari and #Lakshmi.
The lower segments of these sides are embellished with finely sculpted figurines of the 64 yoginis associated with the Tantrik cult, 16 on each side. In addition, Ganesh and Kartik are also featured on one of the sides.

(25 December)

5157th Anniversary of the Gita
Gita Jayanti day symbolizes the birth of Srimad Bhagavad-Gita, the sacred text of the Hindus.
It's celebrated on the Shukla Ekadashi, 11th day of waxing moon of Margashirsha month of the Hindu calendar. The "Bhagavad Gita" was revealed to Arjuna by Krishna Himself in the battlefield of Kurukshetra (in present-day Haryana, India).
