Rose update:

Introducing CAPTCHAs!
A lot of people have been reporting that the current "welcome mute" feature isn't enough to protect their chats, and that they would like something more. Hopefully, this is the "something more" they're asking for! Rose now supports CAPTCHAs, just like the ones you might see online.
You can upgrade to a text captcha by running /captchamode text in your group.

To fit these changes, I've also renamed all the welcomemute features and commands to "captcha"; it makes more sense to keep the common theme - check the help for more details.

Other changes:
- bugfixes
- updated translations.

es-CO and es-UY have also been removed from translations, since they hadnt been updated in a while. Please keep your languages up to date to avoid them being removed.

Minor Rose update:

- Performance and caching enhancements.
- Edited the "you cant use this button" string when using button CAPTCHAs to "You've already solved this CAPTCHA!" to be more relevant and less confusing.
- Updated translations. Thanks to everyone who contributed :)

The following languages are on my list of shame and risk being removed soon, due to being out of date: khmer, arabic, chinese, french, hindi, farsi, and tamil. Please update them if you want them to remain!

Rose update:

- New CAPTCHA type! Rose now supports a math CAPTCHA. Similar to text CAPTCHAs, but instead of Rose sending a picture with random letters, she shows a simple math question. This new challenge should make it a lot harder for any bots to solve the CAPTCHA.
- Fed owners can no longer fpromote an fbanned user.
- Some small bugfixes.
- Updated translations.

Today marks a big day - Rose has reached 30M users.
With 8M monthly active users, shes growing faster than I'd ever expected - thank you all for your support!

To celebrate, I've gone ahead and updated Rose's picture.

Rose update:

- The /approve and /unapprove commands can now take an optional "reason" argument. These can be used to remember why you approved a user to not be affected by blacklists or locks. You can check that reason with the /approval command. It will also be reported in the log channel.
- The /purge and /del commands now also support optional "reason" arguments. This will be reported in the logchannel, and in the case of purges, in the confirmation message.
- Minor bugfixes.
- Updated translations.

Note: I am still waiting on khmer, arabic, chinese, french, hindi, and tamil to update their translations.
If they are not updated by the next Rose update, they will be removed. So if you would like Rose to keep speaking your language, please head to crowdin to update it.

As mentioned in the previous post, I'm removing languages which aren't sufficiently been updated. A BIG thank you to those who took their time updating translations for their languages! You've managed to save arabic, chinese, and french.
The only languages which are still lagging behind are albanian, hindi, and tamil - these have now been removed from Rose. If you use these languages and would like to see them return, please translate them on crowdin.

Website Update:

2020 may be a crappy year, but one thing that's not crappy is Miss Rose's fresh new look! We've updated our website with a more up-to-date look and feel, as well as laid the groundwork for future additions such as the possibility of custom instances.

The user guide/documentation has also received a face lift! We've changed things around to be a bit more intuitive and easier for new users to find what they need.

Please note - The content of the guide has NOT been updated at this time, so unfortunately the information is still outdated. Over the next 2 months, we'll be restructuring it to allow us to keep it up to date more easily, and updating it with all the latest and greatest Rose features and changes. Finally, we will be adding a long overdue search feature to the user guide, so you can quickly and easily find the topics you need help with!

Big Rose update!

- Added federation transfers. To transfer your fed to another user, use the /fedtransfer command. Rose will do various checks on both the sender and the receiver's side, to avoid mistakes, and then transfer the fed once both sides have confirmed. Note that users are still limited to one federation per user.
- Renamed all whitelist and blacklist references to allowlist and blocklist, respectively.
- Added three new lock types; forwardchannel, forwarduser, and forwardbot. These will allow you to have more control over which messages you want to stop.
- The {rules} filling can now be used in all types of data (filters, notes, etc), not just welcomes. Also added the {rules:same} filling, for those that would like to put the rules button on the same line as a previous button.
- Added the ability to customise the name of the button generated by {rules}. Have a look at the /setrulesbutton command in the /help to do this.
- Various bugfixes and enhancements.
- Updated translations. Tamil has returned to Rose! Big thank you to all who contributed.

Rose update!

- Added the /cleanlinked command. This allows you to enable deletion of messages sent by the linked channel (also known as the "discuss" feature for channels); no more spam from your channel posts appearing in your chat!
- Added /purgefrom and /purgeto commands. Sometimes, you need to delete a lot of messages quickly, and counting from message A to message B is... Annoying. With purgefrom and purgeto, you simply reply to the message to start deleting from (with /purgefrom), and then reply to the one to delete to (with /purgeto), and Rose will delete everything in between the two messages. Easy!
- Minor optimisations, bugfixes, and improved error handling.
- Added Kurdish language, and updated all translations. Big thank you to all those who have been working hard to translate!

Rose update:

Recently, Rose has had some issues deleting old welcome messages. This was caused by a version of telegram's rate limiting that I had not heard of before. I've discussed with telegram to understand how to avoid these, and have altered some features to hopefully avoid them.
So, from now on, chats with /cleanwelcome enabled will see Rose delete the welcome message after two situations:
- When a new user joins the chat.
- If no new user joins the chat, after 5 minutes. (New behaviour)

This should allow Rose to avoid the telegram limits that she's been hitting, and keep her growing well. The 5 minute limit cannot be changed; it's required to avoid rate limiting.

Rose update:

- You can now set warn times with the /setwarntime command to decide how long a warn should last before it expires.
- Added lots of alternative ban/mute/kick/warn commands to delete the replied to message, or be totally silent. Simply add a`d` or s in front of the command delete the replied to message, or to make the command silent.
eg: /dban, /dmute, etc.
d commands will Delete and ban the replied to message, and s commands will delete your command AND the replied to message; make it Silent. Check the /help on bans or warnings for more information.

Rose update:

- Hopefully fixed a bug causing Rose to hit rate limits on pinning. If you've been using antichannelpin and have seen Rose occasionally fail to re-pin, this should now be solved.
- Fixed a bug causing /dkick not to work.
- Improved error handling in purges - this should help debug in the rare event some messages fail to get deleted.
- Other minor bugfixes and improvements.
- Updated languages.

Telegram has been having issues for the past 2 hours, which caused Rose to have issues sending/receiving messages.

Telegram is now back, and so Rose is too. I've cleared all pending updates, since I figured that messages sent 2 hours ago are no longer relevant, and that we would rather have Rose taking care of new messages :)

Telegram have quietly released a new update which has changed how linked channels send messages to your chats. Instead of channel messages being sent by "telegram" (userid 777000), theyre now being sent by a bot (@GroupAnonymousBot).

This causes some issues with Rose, such as:
- linked channels being affected by antiflood, locks, blocklists.
- "cleanlinked" and "antichannelpin" may act weirdly.

If you dont use linked channels, then dont worry - this shouldn't be a problem for you!
I'll release a new update later tonight where ill fix this - in the meantime, sorry for the inconvenience.

Edit: Looks like telegram have undone the change on their side, so everything is back to normal.

Small Rose update to handle the latest telegram version:
- the anonymous group bot (@GroupAnonymousBot) is approved by default; locks, blocklists and antiflood won't take action on it.
- minor bugfixes.

Going to keep investigating to make sure there aren't any other surprises caused by telegrams update. Let us know!

The bot api seems to be having issues with Rose at the moment.
Messages are failing to send because of it. Hopefully, this fixes itself soon!

edit: Seems to have fixed itself now.

New Rose update:

Introducing random filter/notes/greeting contents.
Having the same filter EVERY time can be a bit boring sometimes. So now, you can have Rose pick a reply to a word at random! Simply separate the two contents by %%%, on a newline.

For example, the following will set a filter on rose as usual, but Rose will randomly alternate between Heya, that's me!, or You called?. Cool, right?

You can add as many random filters as you'd like, so enjoy! These can be used on notes, filters, and greetings.

Telegram have updated the bot API - and of course, that means updates for Rose too!
- Fix antichannelpin issues caused by the new multipin logic
- Stop /adminlist from showing anonymous users
- Add the /unpinall command to unpin all messages
- Replying /unpin to a message will attempt to unpin that message

And of course...
- Support for anonymous admins to run commands.

When an anonymous admin runs a command, Rose will now send a message asking for that admin to press a button. This will allow Rose to know who that admin is without leaking their identity to others - which means that she can confirm that they have the necessary permissions to use that command.
If you don't care about security, you can also use the /anonadmin command to simply give full admin permissions to any anonymous admins. This means they won't need to press any buttons, but also means that there is no way of knowing if they're allowed to use those commands.

Rose update!

Nothing big today, but a lot of small, helpful changes:
- The /reports command (with no argument) now shows the current setting.
- The /report and @admin commands now work without needing to reply to a message to report.
- The /warnings command now shows the amount of time the warnings will last for.
- Anonymous chat creators can now use creator commands again (such as /import, /clearall, /stopall, etc).
- The usual bugfixes and backend improvements.
- Update translations. Rose now speaks 🇺🇦 Ukrainian! Big thank you to all those that have contributed :)

Another note:
Some people have been waiting for Rose to allow anonymous users to fban. However, this causes issues, since it would de-anonymise the user. I believe that anonymous users should have their privacy respected, but also believe that federation commands should log the person who did the ban.
For that reason, anonymous fbans will not be coming to Rose (at least for now). If you have more questions, feel free to ask in the support chat.
