Less than a day after the Perseverance Mars rover landed on the surface of the Red Planet, mission teams at @NASAJPL released the first photos of the rover’s descent as well as its first views from its new home in Jezero Crater.⁣
⁣
A primary objective for Perseverance’s mission on Mars is astrobiology research, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life. The rover will also be the first mission to collect samples that will be returned to Earth on a future mission.⁣
