The Grayzone obtained a document that the State of Palestine Public Prosecution released, which most Western outlets have not touched as of yet. Two West Bank sources with direct knowledge of the case verified its authenticity. The document reveals detailed firsthand accounts of how Israeli intelligence operates inside Palestinian civil society, and it's the clearest explanation that has ever been made public.

The document is a confession letter written by a Palestinian collaborator who spent years working inside the Red Crescent as an asset for Israeli intelligence. It describes drug trafficking, sexual blackmail, the construction of informant networks through coercion and entrapment, and the direct role this network played in the assassination of Palestinian resistance fighters.

The collaborator was first recruited in December 2004 during the height of the Second Intifada. At the time, they were visiting an Israeli field interrogation center that had been established near their home following security incidents in the area.

The person was young and the primary breadwinner in a fatherless family. They were struggling financially. They were, in the language of intelligence recruitment, an ideal candidate.

An operative identifying himself as Captain Ibrahim approached the soon to be asset. He already knew about the person's financial situation and offered a generous payoff in return for cooperation. The collaborator accepted, writing later that they knew at the time that what they were doing was neither ethical nor patriotic and that nothing justified it.

They were given a ghost phone for contacting Ibrahim, and their initial tasking was to collect information about resistance activists, people who fired at Israeli forces, anyone carrying a firearm. Five hundred shekels per piece of information. Their Red Crescent position gave them steady access to exactly the kind of information Israeli intelligence wanted.

"Because I was a volunteer in relief work and being local, I was able to know many faction activists and follow them," the collaborator wrote. "There was a direct response from the Israeli army and its intelligence whenever I alerted Captain Ibrahim."

Four months into the operation, Ibrahim introduced the collaborator to an Israeli spy operating under the codename Suzy. She worked undercover as a coordinator for foreign volunteers visiting Nablus to provide humanitarian aid, a source familiar with Suzy told The Grayzone she is a U.S. citizen.

Her Red Crescent role gave her access. She could enter the homes of wanted persons under the guise of providing assistance to them and their families. She could accompany Israeli forces during operations against resistance fighters, including arrests and assassinations, because she knew exactly where those fighters would be.

Together, Suzy and the Palestinian collaborator began building something more systematic. A network of informants constructed through a combination of financial inducement and sexual entrapment.

They established sexual relationships with targets, they set up a dedicated space at Red Crescent's Nablus headquarters equipped with cameras, they filmed what happened in that room, and then they used the footage to force cooperation from the people they had compromised.

"Those who refused were threatened with exposure," the confession states.

Between the late 1990s and 2019, the pair compromised more than sixteen young men and women from Nablus, Bethlehem, and Hebron. The outcome of those operations was a network of assets used either to provide intelligence or to distribute drugs on behalf of Israeli intelligence.

The network was not only used for surveillance. It was used to kill people.

A woman from Nablus was targeted through volunteer committees. The collaborator established a sexual relationship with her and recorded their phone calls. Her proximity to an Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades commander made her valuable. She could monitor his movements without arousing suspicion.

In April 2007, that intelligence led directly to a ground operation in which the commander was killed in an armed clash. Western media reported at the time that two Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades figures were killed during a raid in Nablus that month. The collaborator received 9,500 shekels for their role. Roughly three thousand dollars in today's terms.

Later that year, the collaborator received the same sum for an operation that ended with them personally killing two Palestinian fighters. The mission began as surveillance, monitoring the targets' movements and routines. Then an intermediary appeared and handed the collaborator an improvised explosive device with instructions for deploying it.

Knowing exactly when the targets would arrive, the collaborator placed the device and left. They set it to detonate within fifteen minutes. After the explosion they returned to the scene under the cover of being a local volunteer first responder with the Red Crescent.

The two fighters and their entourage were killed.

Palestinian media documented numerous incidents of Israeli shooting and bombing of resistance figures in Nablus throughout late 2007.

The confession also reveals a separate but connected operation targeting Palestinian women working in beauty salons and hotels across the occupied territories.

Israeli intelligence identified salon and hairdressing owners as a strategic recruitment pool. The focus was specifically on divorcees, widows, and anyone in a vulnerable situation. To build access, Tel Aviv began hosting secret training courses for women working in hotels and beauty salons. Beauty shows were organized. Aid and grants were distributed. The goal was to cultivate a wide intelligence network inside an industry where women talk freely and hear everything.

Once recruited, these women served two purposes. Gathering information from their customers. And distributing drugs that were smuggled in from Jordan, coordinated across the border with Jordanian beauty salon owners and assisted by intelligence services on both sides.

The Grayzone also obtained a leaked video featuring a second collaborator, a Palestinian from Nablus named Zouheir Ghalit, who described his own recruitment and deployment in direct testimony to an interrogator.

Ghalit was contacted through a video call and asked to come to Huwara for an interview. There he met an officer called Anwar who gave him his first mission. Track a resistance fighter known as The Chechen and find out where he goes and where he stays.

Ghalit tracked the man multiple times. The last time he located him at the Grand Mosque next to the fountain, and he called the officer and relayed the location. His reward was a carton of cigarettes.

His second mission was to monitor the movements of a man named Saleh Al Azizi. Watch his doors, his windows, the alleys around his home, the CCTV cameras. He did this for two weeks.

Then came the third mission. Ghalit was taken to the Huwara military base, blindfolded, put in a jeep, and driven to a staging area. He was dressed in an Israeli special forces uniform. His role was to identify targets during a raid on Al Azizi's neighborhood.

"They made me wear their same special forces uniform," Ghalit told his interrogator. "My mission was to identify their targets for them."

The raid resulted in the killing of Saleh Al Azizi and a man named Aboud Sobh. Ghalit was kept in the jeep for two to three hours while the operation concluded. Afterward he was taken into the house to help locate confiscated items. He was paid five hundred shekels and given a carton of Marlboro cigarettes.

His mission ended there.

A West Bank source told The Grayzone that Zouheir Ghalit is no longer alive. The Grayzone could not independently confirm this.

What This Reveals
The Israeli human rights organization B'tselem documented as far back as 1994 that Israeli intelligence used pressure, threats, extortion, and the conditional granting of permits to recruit Palestinian collaborators. Many of those practices violate international law.

Since 1948, Israeli intelligence has systematically targeted the most vulnerable members of Palestinian society. Those struggling financially. Those who need medical travel permits. Those discovered to be gay. The methods documented in this confession letter are not aberrations. They are the operational standard.

This document reveals something people knew was going, but in such specific, firsthand detail. The ghost phones. The camera rooms. The beauty salon network. The IED handed to a civilian asset. The return to the scene under Red Crescent cover.

This is what the infiltration of Palestinian civil society actually looks like from the inside.

The most important stories are often the ones that confirm what many people already suspected but could never prove. This confession letter is one of those documents. It does not require interpretation or inference, it is a person describing, in their own words, a system that was designed to destroy Palestinian society from within.

The collaborator who wrote it is currently being held by the Palestinian Authority. The system they described is still operating.
