Ukraine says SpaceX has put new speed limits on military grade Starlink terminals without warning, disrupting some missions, according to multiple outlets. SpaceX hasn’t commented.
The affected service is StarShield, a Starlink subscription for government and military use. The Journal reports Ukraine’s access runs under a Defense Department contract. A Pentagon spokesman referred questions to President Trump’s remarks on intelligence sharing.
Zelensky adviser Serhiy Beskrestnov said the limit began overnight and forces got no warning. Accounts of the threshold vary. Beskrestnov and a Ukrainian defense ministry official point to about 160 km/h (100 mph), while Ukraine’s 7th Corps told Reuters connections dropped for 10 to 20 seconds at just 110 to 120 km/h. Units cancelled some missions.
Per the Journal, drones can still fly but video feeds are less reliable, especially against moving targets, and they must fly slower to stay connected, making them easier to hit. Midrange drones are harder to launch, and Ukrainian officials say Starlink had recently helped Ukraine intercept Russia’s jet powered drones. Slower ground drones are largely unaffected.
Drones flying over Russia were already barred from StarShield and use other guidance, so strikes on Russian oil and diesel production are unlikely to be affected, officials and defense executives told the Journal.
The limit comes as Washington presses Kyiv to stop striking Russian refineries. Trump said Tuesday the U.S. is still sharing intelligence, after Zelensky said Kyiv received no warning ahead of a Russian missile attack.

Italian PM Meloni on the Russian diesel deal:
"The outcome of this decision is doubtful, while the risks are clear: legitimizing Moscow while its bombs continue to fall on Ukrainian cities, financing its war, and weakening sanctions.
These elements contradict what Western countries, including the United States, have done so far to push Putin to the negotiating table."

INTERESTING: U.S. military airlift activity has surged across the eastern Mediterranean and Middle East over the past 2 weeks.
Flight tracking data from FR shows U.S. military cargo flights up +80% from August, with C-17s dominating traffic and C-5 heavy airlift activity doubling.
This is just a 24-hour snapshot.

RT @michaeldweiss: Among the items on the agenda in Miami, before Kushner and Witkoff announced a bilateral diesel deal between the U.S. and Russia, was "territorial concessions," per my Ukrainian sources. What's one way a thuggish administration can make the point -- to both Kyiv and Moscow -- that it can force Ukraine to surrender land even if Ukraine doesn't want to?

Starlink doesn't work in Russia, so crippling Ukrainian Starlinks does not protect Russian refineries, but it does make Ukrainian military operations in Ukraine more difficult, and demonstrates (once again) why Europe should never buy American military hardware. - Jimmy Rushtontweet

RT @Tatarigami_UA: The current Starlink restrictions seem more like a power play than a full cutoff. Slowing down the service could serve as a "final warning," followed by a complete cutoff if no "deal" is reached.
Strikes inside Russia don't rely on Starlink itself, hence it's a road to nowhere

This is indeed an honest answer that so many Atlanticists in Europe fail to grapple. There is return to “status quo ante”, Trump or no Trump.

Presidential advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov confirms Elon Musk's SpaceX is deliberately crippling Ukrainian Starlink terminals:
"I can confirm that tonight SpaceX has implemented a speed limit on Starlink terminals while in motion.
The limit currently applies to the StarShield “military package” and is set at 100 mph.
Our defense forces were not given notice of this limit, and this has resulted in the disruption of a number of missions.
It is clear that this action cannot be a coincidence and is related to the current political situation." - Jimmy Rushtontweet
