Romania resumed its search Friday for seven sailors missing from the San Marino flagged chemical tanker "Wine Trader", which was hit by a drone early Thursday in the Black Sea, Reuters reports. The ship was about a mile outside Romanian territorial waters. Twelve sailors were aboard, five were rescued, and strong winds and rough seas hampered the search.
An interior ministry spokesperson said rescuers returned to search the ship. A Black Hawk helicopter would place four rescuers aboard while another ship searched nearby waters.
A second tanker, the Comoros flagged "Yara J", was hit by a drone inside Romanian waters late Wednesday. Its crew was unharmed and it was towed to the port of Constanta. Both ships were anchored near the Sulina canal, which links the Danube to the Black Sea and is a key export route for Ukraine, Reuters reports.
Romanian President Nicusor Dan said drones struck both ships. A NATO military source told Reuters the drones came from Russia.
Reuters says at least five other cargo ships were hit near Romania and Bulgaria in the past 10 days, with 23 sailors dead or missing. Most of those incidents were outside NATO territorial waters.

Another tanker is burning in the Gulf of Oman.
Iranian Navy: the vessel had shut off its tracking systems and was moving through a prohibited area east of the Strait of Hormuz when monitoring teams spotted it.

At the Port of Haifa right now.
Around 15 tanker and cargo ships are waiting offshore to enter the port and unload their goods.
Tensions are rising and the threat of another war looms.
A reminder that even in one of the world’s most volatile regions, life, commerce and the economy must go on.

Last night, Ukrainian forces carried out the first confirmed attack on a Russian oil refinery since the announcement about the "energy ceasefire" made by US President Trump on October 11, 2026.
Ukrainian drones struck the Ryazan oil refinery located in western Russia, around 500km from the border with Ukraine.
It's worth mentioning that although the Ukrainians were holding back with their attacks on Russian fuel infrastructure to honor the America-announced truce, Moscow continued its attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities. Kremlin spokesman Peskov also admitted Thursday that the Russian Armed Forces were carrying on with the strikes since the "energy ceasefire" was never cemented, nor its boundaries ever determined.
The recent days saw several actions undertaken by the Trump administration that could've been described as very damaging to the current US-Ukraine relations. Last Friday, the American president announced a deal on diesel fuel with Putin at the same time when the Ukrainian delegation was holding talks with the Americans in Miami. On Monday, Trump told reports that he believes Putin wants a deal on the settlement of the war more than Zelensky. In addition to that, multiple media outlets informed that US officials threatened Kyiv with cutting intelligence sharing if the attacks on Russian refineries will not cease. Throughout the week, Ukraine also reported gaps in early missile-attack warnings and temporary restrictions on military Starlink (Starshield) service. These occurred amid Trump administration pressure on Kyiv to stop striking Russian oil refineries.
In an interview with the Financial Times published on October 15, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine would resume strikes on Russian oil refineries, explicitly linking the decision to recent US actions and Russia’s continued attacks. "The block is out. We're done," he declared.
