Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff had presented new European and Ukrainian approaches to ending the war, but Moscow found little value in them.
“Witkoff outlined the new approaches of the Europeans and Kyiv to resolving the conflict, but there is little useful in them,” Ushakov said.
He also claimed that Vladimir Putin had given Witkoff an “objective picture” of the battlefield, insisting that Russian forces now hold the initiative across the front. That remains Moscow’s assessment, not an independently established account of the fighting.
🔥 The Kremlin is signaling that it wants negotiations without showing much willingness to accommodate Ukraine’s position. By dismissing Kyiv’s proposals while portraying Russia as dominant on the battlefield, Moscow is seeking to strengthen its negotiating position before talks even begin. The real test in November will be whether Russia offers meaningful compromises or continues demanding territorial concessions that its army has struggled to secure through years of fighting.

The U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) sanctioned the Panama and Greece based law firm Karnakis & Karnakis, five of its owners and employees, two shipping agents and nine vessels on Wednesday, as part of Operation Economic Outcast, the campaign against Iran’s sanctions evasion. Treasury says the firm has registered the shipping companies that own shadow fleet vessels, which carried hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of Iranian exports.
Treasury also designated Roxette Maritime Shipping and Trading and seven Panama flagged cargo ships it manages: ANEMOS, GLORIS, PRIDE, DESTINY, FLAMINGO 1, HARMONY and PRINCE. Treasury says only the first three carried Iranian exports in the past year.
The two shipping agents are Singapore based Amigoz, which Treasury says provided bunkering to the sanctioned tanker ZIXUAN, and Dubai based Whales Shipping Line, which owns two support vessels also now sanctioned.
