SPD politicians have repeatedly claimed that Germany only has 150 operational Taurus.
The manufacturer said this in an interview with politician Roderich Kiesewetter:
All 600 are ready for use, some just need to be certified.

The government parties agreed to send the notion for a parliament voting on a new military aid package containing “long range weapons”. The word “TAURUS” is not mentioned but it is obviously the core of that new military aid package. Voting should take place this week.

Reason for this change of heart is Navalny’s murder. Even members of the SPD are appalled and now ready to support the bill, in order to send a message to Putin.

The notion is also a concession to TAURUS supporters in the government parties who threatened to bring in their own notion, further straining the government coalition.

Die Ukraine ist heute deutlich weniger auf westliche Marschflugkörper angewiesen als noch 2023/24.

Aber: Der Taurus ist unter Scholz zum Symbol deutscher Erpressbarkeit geworden. Wenn Merz nach Ablauf des Ultimatums nicht liefert, verspielt auch er seine Glaubwürdigkeit.

Gleichzeitig darf nicht vergessen werden, dass dank Scholz’ Verzögerungstaktik der Taurus erst integriert und ukrainisches Personal ausgebildet werden muss. Drei Monate sind optimistisch, realistischer sind vier bis sechs. Der Taurus wird also nicht morgen in der Ukraine eintreffen.
