Merlion Project Human Library: Journey of Transformation

Join this event to hear the story of Barry Yeow and his journey of transformation.

Before Barry Yeow became an artist, he was trapped in a cycle of criminal activity, going in and out of prison.

In 2011, he attended art classes while in prison and took a liking to it, venturing into the different forms including painting, sculpturing, pottery and batik.๐ŸŽจ

After being released in 2015 for good behaviour, he became a gallery owner, an art teacher and also exhibited his work in local and international exhibitions.

Three Sisters production by The Solitude Movement

โ€œThree Sistersโ€ is a monodrama performed by a single actor, exploring the rarely discussed bond between siblings and the impact of relationships among three sisters in a Chinese-speaking family๐Ÿง๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿง๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Told from the perspective of the middle child, the audience follows her narrative on her first overseas trip with her sisters to Tokyo, Japan. As the middle child, she feels a sense of invisibility, as her parents often focus more on her other siblings. This has driven her to carve out her own identity, developing strong independence, resilience, and adaptability๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

The performance is in her mother tongue, Mandarin, mixed with English and Hokkien, and includes English subtitles.
